Strange things afoot in Ford County, Illionis, animal abuse case.

April 20: a chocolate lab called “Bear” was found tied to a bridge and “barely alive”. He had a choke chain around his neck, eyes swollen shut and jaw broken from being beaten, mouth closed shut with electrical tape, and was the target of a shotgun blast.

April 27: he’s healing but his jaw is so bad that he’ll be on canned food for the rest of his life.

May 4: Bear’s owners have filed a protection order against their neighbors, one of whom found the dog on the bridge. The owners, who no longer want anything to do with Bear, contend that the neighbor killed one of their cats as part of a long-standing feud.

The rest of the story not withstanding, I’m thinking the dog isn’t going to be to upset with this bit.

I’m confused. So is the proper timeline this:

[ol]
[li]neighbor killed my cat[/li][li]so I beat up my own dog and left it tied to a bridge[/li][li]neighbor found dog[/li][li]I file protection order against neighbor[/li][/ol]

Who beats up their own dog as a protest against a neighbor? Something doesn’t add up.

Neighbor might have beaten up the dog then claimed to find it. Investigation is still going.

Bear has a new family.

Update: investigation has been closed due to lack of evidence needed to identify suspects.

Outstanding!
He still looks rather hacked off. :dubious:
