If the physician who made the video said it was a surreal experience, he wasn’t kidding. Chances are, that wound stunk horribly on top of it.
It didn’t bother me all that much because I had some idea what I was going to be looking at.
I collect old medical books, and the most disturbing thing in any of mine is from a 1908 gynecology textbook. It includes a pencil drawing, from an autopsy photograph, of the perineal area of an 8-month-old girl who had been raped, which was also her cause of death.

One of the previous times this subject came up, I thought of one, but didn’t have an SD account at the time. After reading through 2 pages of replies though, my go-to answer seems tame. Here it is anyway.
Charla Nash. Nash was the woman mauled by a pet chimp named Travis about 10, 15 years ago. The picture I saw, weeks after the attack, it looked like she had no face, just a lump of flesh. She lost most of her hands in the attack too, if I recall.
However, in a moment of bravery, I googled her a year or two ago. She actually has something of a recognizable face now! Reconstructive surgery can do amazing things nowadays.

There’s tons of beheading videos out there, as they are quite popular with ISIS and Mexican cartels, etc. It’s entirely possible to do it in one swift stroke if they are done with an appropriate blade, such as a machete, and appropriate level of force. But yeah, sometimes they are using way too inadequate a knife and it takes a good bit of sawing. I think the most famous beheading video by far is the Daniel Pearl one, which was not totally clean either.
I saw an Al Qaeda video once where they had 3 or 4 heads that were already decapitated, and played soccer with them. That one was more disturbing to me because of the desecration angle.

What would you rather have them do? Do you think a random Joe on the street is qualified to give medical care to a mortally injured person? Let’s assume that emergency response has already been called. How is someone documenting the event worse than, well, whatever it is you think you’d be doing instead?

I agree with JustinC… I would think and hope someone would at least try to offer a bit of comfort to the injured, letting the possibly dying person know they aren’t alone. I’ve stopped at car accidents, reassuring the injured while waiting for EMTs and have been on the receiving end of that scenario as well. Believe me, it means a lot.
Way back when the Internet was new I helped a friend set up his first computer, complete with dialup modem. I brought a big floppy with text and pictures to show him how his setup worked.
To this day we can both describe the picture. A totally nude guy and girl standing in front of a barn. The guy has his dick in a live chicken. The girl is just standing there staring at the cameraman. You know there is a cameraman and not a tripod, because the shadow of the camera guy along with three of his buddies is in the shot.

I’ve seen plenty stranger things and I’m sure my friend has also, but for back in the day it was memorable.
Not long ago, I came across a video from Nigeria of a man who’d been sliced in half by a freight train, but somehow was still alive and conscious. While a couple people were indeed tending to his (obviously mortal) injuries, you could see no less than SIX other people were filming the scene on their smartphones! :dubious:
Makes me wonder what they planned to do with the video – were they going to post it on their Facebook timeline? “Oh look, here’s pictures of my newborn niece which my sister sent me this morning… and here’s a picture of the falafel I ate for lunch… oh, and here’s footage of a horribly mutilated man I saw on my walk home from work…”
