Strength and Beauty

I was really struck by this photo gallery of the US Women’s National Team. It’s pretty common knowledge that Heather Mitts and Alex Morgan are hotties, and most everyone who has a pulse and has played soccer, or just longed for the girl next door, should have a crush on Hope Solo. But they did a great job of showing the beauty in all of the women, some who don’t come across that great when sweaty and fresh from battle.

Enjoy: Meet the US Team (from CNN SI)

Couple of cuties. Big whoop.

Big whoop?! Oh, Philster. When was it that you lost your grace?

A few of them look kind of cute, but I see hotter women every day on campus. And several of them look like fairly handsome young men.

And what’s this “caps” statistic that’s quoted for all of them? It seems to range from 5 to somewhere around 150, and I can’t think of any sports statistic that could vary that much.

Caps are the soccer version of Mardi Gras’ beads.

Ali Krieger & Hope Solo are pretty cute, but they need to be checking #10 for a dick.

So… Fans throw them headwear in the hopes that they’ll flash them? And someone actually keeps a count of how many caps each has been given?

How many games you’ve been on the roster for the national team.

Oh no! Someone posted pictures of women not to your taste! Better make wisecracks about their lack of femininity and probable possession of male genitalia!

In case you hadn’t noticed, the entire purpose of this thread is to comment on the appearance of a set of women. If it’s reasonable for the OP to refer to some of them as hotties, it’s also reasonable for bump and I to point out that several of them look very masculine.

FWIW, I was out to lunch when the US women were playing Brazil and a corner-kick came up, and I didn’t realize that it was the women’s team, and I thought that the guy who was doing the corner kick had the girliest haircut ever.

So at least from where I’m sitting, some of them look pretty damned un-feminine if I’m watching them play, and think they’re girly looking men, instead of a women’s team.

And it’s reasonable, in turn, for me to bust your balls about it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not only do some of them not look particularly feminine, some of them don’t look particularly American.

That, I won’t complain about. There’s nothing that looks more American than not looking American.

If you want to talk about Strength and Beauty, look no further than the NEW women’s 135-lb. MMA champion Miesha Tate.
