Stringbean is an odious, racist, sexist, intellectually dishonest crank

We’ll see how much of this is your bias talking (not that you’re alone in this), and how much is accurate analysis. Considering how much more popular Hillary is than the various potential Republicans at this point, I’m not sure if your “growing hope” is warranted. But we’ll see.

Unlike every candidate for president ever? “Polarizing” means absolutely nothing as a description of a presidential candidate.

“…and I’ve already deigned the rules of the game…”

Deign def: to condescend reluctantly and with a strong sense of the affront to one’s superiority that is involved.

Methinks your strong sense of superiority is misplaced. You don’t even do words too good.

Nonono, Green Bean is a complete sweetheart and not like him at all.

I fear you miss the important point: a candidate he doesn’t like is trying to get elected. This simply will not do.

What do you call a dog whistle that dogs, humans, and deaf people can hear? A foghorn, maybe? He might as well have said “godammit, it’s time for a white male president again, as God intended.”

“We’ve gone black! Let’s prove everyone wrong and show that we can go back!”

“Polarizing” means “It’s your fault I have an irrational hatred of you”, in the same way that the same Republicans who decided on Day 1 to say no to anything and everything Obama does or wants (right down to filibustering their own bills and nominees) call him “divisive”.

So does Stringbean. In his head.

I love this post. Just sayin’ is all.

Stingbean’s the one with the black goatee, that’s how you tell them apart.

Ok, this is a good contrast to whatever point Stringbean is trying to make. You have identified a few articulable reasons for opposing Mrs. Clinton. This pitting however, is about **Stringbean **claiming some weird ass shit about Mrs. Clinton waging a race war, or a class war, or something. It’s really hard to tell what he means by his demographic square dance comments. However, when you try to understand what he is saying, it seems to boil down to “Clinton is saying stupid stuff that no white male would ever be dumb enough to buy, so she must be going after stupid women and minorities.”

I, for one, wish the Democrats could find someone better than Hillary to run. It’s hard to imagine that they can’t, but name recognition is a powerful weapon, especially in this era of reality stars and people who famous for no other reason than that are famous. Still, she’s smart, hard working and is mature enough that most of us who tend to vote Democratic don’t have to hold our noses too tightly to vote for her.

But… the bigger problem is not Hillary. It’s the failure of the GOP to put up a serious, substantive contender who doesn’t scare the bejeesus out of more than half the country. Even Chris Christie, whom I consider one of the more serious ones, is talking about ground troops to fight the so-called Islamic State. Do we never learn? And when the Republicans get power, they seem to always do something like putting abortion at the front of their action plan. They keep proving themselves incapable of governing at the national level. I simply won’t risk another pointless war by voting for a GOP hawk. In fact, I wish Hillary were less hawkish herself!

So, yeah, I almost certainly will vote for Hillary. I think she’ll be a perfectly adequate president, even if I think there must many other Democratic politicians who would be better. If the GOP could come up with someone like Alan Simpson, they might have a chance for my vote. Until they do, it’s Hill, baby, Hill.

Comedy gold. If there were not a Shodan, we would have to invent one.

The only place I can think of with non-polarizing political figures is North Korea. Those Kims, man, talk about your landslide victories!

I’m more puzzled than concerned about Stringbean’s reaction to the announcement video. I think of it more like the first pitch of the baseball season. It can be a ball, strike, home run, or groundout. In the vast scheme of things, it isn’t terribly significant in terms of the team’s final record. Hillary released a feel-good check all the boxes video. So what? In the 2016 campaign, this is but the first pitch. There’s plenty of campaigning left and plenty of things she will say that will make her friends and enemies on both sides. Let it play out and chill out.

Some people have a visceral hate for a given politician and/or a give political party and are going to go off the deep end no matter what. Hillary’s opening salvo was nothing remarkable, and I’m guessing that was on purpose. She has virtually nothing to fear in the primary and so has no reason to risk anything.

Speaking on behalf of the conservative wing of the extreme left, I fully endorse these remarks. John-Boy, this bud’s for you!

Thank you

I’d love it if Stringbean deigned to answer the questions.

From such as we? As if.
