I think it’s one of those assimilation types of scenarios. Once they’re in that new dimension, they are that version of themselves, but with a Quantum Leap-type self awareness.
Whereas the first Stuart who came to warn them I think said he was from the future, so that was time travel, which has different rules.

Probably the same guest stars will reappear as different versions of themselves.
There are only 10 episodes ordered so they can be lavish this season.
Another season and we may end up with appearances from Captain Sweatpants and the ex-girlfriends of Howard and Raj.
I saw an interview on Instagram of Melissa Rauch where she mentioned that she had never had a scene with John Ross Bowie (Kripke). I was quite surprised by that.
Weren’t they both at Amy and Sheldon’s wedding?
I believe so but they must not have had a scene together. Either that or Rauch is misremembering.
I just checked on you tube(sorry I don’t know how to link)and you can see Bernadette next to Howard as Kripke starts to sing. Probably misremembering as they don’t interact in the scene.
I think that’s key. Interacting is “sharing a scene together.” Not interacting you may as well be still in the Green Room.
Kripke only turned up in a couple of episodes per season, and Bernadette wasn’t at MIT, so there’s no reason for them to interact.

In Bernadette’s early appearances, she was working on her PhD, though the university was never specified, so it might have been at Caltech.

Kripke and Bert weren’t in proximity to the whatsit but got transported anyway. Is that because nothing in that episode was real?
I wasn’t surprised by an appearance of Amy, but I wasn’t expecting Weird or Porky. (I didn’t even recognize Jon, had to google to see if it was someone.)
Pretty sure that the first jump to the Matrix movie was all in their dreams/not real.
The last one wasn’t too surprising since he work with both Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady on Two and a Half Men
