Stuff that should be rebooted

This is brilliant. I could see Louis CK doing this show in real life too.

Or a cop show.

Wasn’t that Black Mirror?

But having a new supernatural/sci-fi/horror anthology show that just shared the same name would hardly be a reboot, unless they had a CGI Rod Serling.

It’ll probably not be done for a long time, because the previous movie already poisoned the well, but I’d like to see Robert Heinlein’s The Puppet Masters rebooted, with good CGI. Ditto for I, Robot* and Starship Troopers.
And, again, probably not going to see it, because of the legacy of the movie series, but it’d be interesting to see Ian Fleming’s James Bond movies done as period pieces, relatively faithful to the books.

And I’ve said it many times before, but I’d like to see an unbowdlerized movie version (that WASN’T a star vehicle) of Mark Twain’s a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court.

Or a version of Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian that actually adapted a lot of his material, rather than writing a screen story that doesn’t feel at al like his stuff. I’s kill for a good adaptation of The Tower of the Elephant or Rogues in the House or The Frost Giant’s Daughter.*

I’d also like to see Judge Dee rebooted, like the Nicholas Meyer TV-movie Judge Dee and the Haunted Monastery (which was supposed to be the pilot for a Judge Dee TV series that never happened), not the martial arts movies that came out of China.

Something like the Tomthy Hutton Nero Wolfe series would be great, too – there are plenty of Nero Wolfe stories they never got to.

*with Harlan Ellison’s Asimov-approved script. Like THAT’S ever gonna happen.

Hmm, I am starting not to like “period” films, as they seem to be used too damn often to inject a lot of paid for smoking.:frowning:

They made three films and two TV movies of it. And near the end of the book, it just get so damn depressing. Twain got pretty dark there at time, and frankly the end was just a trip down Twains darkness.

Yeah, those were great. But they have done NW several times and that’s the only good one.

I’d like to see them restart or reboot Hornblower. Starting where the A&E series left off.

Totally screwed up the makeup with that one. Herman should not be DayGlo green!

OK, that could be interesting.

Glad I wasn’t drinking when I hit the refrain. That could have gotten messy.

I’d kind of like to see a reboot of Dragnet, just to see them struggle with it. I think I’d like to see it take a stupid criminal stories kind of slant.

They actually tried that one; With Ed O’Neill in 2003. It only lasted 2 seasons.

Here’s one for you guys… Would it be possible to make a Brady Bunch reboot? How would you cast it? I think the only way it could work would be more as a drama (or dramody). I don’t know why, but I always imagine William H Macy as a good character lead in this; doing a similar character to Frank Gallagher from Shameless. The Shameless tag line says it all: “An alcoholic man lives in a perpetual stupor while his six children cope as best they can.”

I love macy but I cant watch Shameless, the one boy being cruel to animals and that played for laughs, that i can’t do.

why cant someone make a full on hard core xxx movie/show, but it actually has a good story to go with it. like big budget porn.

Some think Caligula fits the bill.

I found 1001 Erotic Nights actually pretty good. I would say it is a decent B movie, as good as many sand & sandals pics made in the day.

Then there is Last Tango in Paris

The answer is, as always, Highlander.

Everyone knows the sequels were horrifically shitty but let’s be honest, the first one had big problems too. It’s a great concept in need of a big budget and a better thought out ending.

The TV series (seasons 2-6, anyway) already did the premise better justice than the movies did. (That said, I would like to see it remade.)

The Directors cut of #2 was Ok.

I did enjoy the tv show but it suffered from having a tight budget and the same no clear idea for an ending.
