Stuff that should be rebooted

Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate.

With Tate being (Deceased), of course.

I don’t remember Voyagers but reading the plot description in Wikipedia, it sounds a lot like Timeless, which was on NBC recently.

Some more matinee serials I would like to see re-made:

The Perils of Pauline
The Exploits of Elaine
The Hazards of Helen
I would not even care if they were faithful to the originals. I just like the titles.

Something involving Canadian mounties (back in the days when scarlet serge was their everyday work outfit), and mustache-twirling villains. Bonus points if they can justify tying someone to railroad tracks or a sawmill.

Yeah, but can he sing tenor?

Sgt Preston was perhaps the most famous, but Hollywood made a lot of mountie films in the 1930s and 1940s. The “northern” was a genre with as many hoary cliches as the “western”. The RCMP got better press than the Texas Rangers. I am kind of curious to see Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders. (Sadly, it was an espionage film, not a science fiction film.)

Computer says “No!”

Like this?*

*Okay, it's RAF instead of RCMP, but still....

I’d like to see a reboot of The Last Starfighter.

Many people have tried, but the owner of the rights has long been keeping them out of others hands. But a sequel is now in early development with screenwriter Gary Whitta.

The movie Kin opening this weekend has been compared to TLS. OTOH, it’s 36% at RT.

This sort of stuff tends to hurt people trying to get reboots off the ground. (Since “X” failed why remake “Y”?)

The Twilight Zone - it may be rebooted again soon.

“Due South” 1994 (In Germany, Shown as “Ein Mountie in Chicago” Which demonstrated that “story arcs” aren’t always terrible. Not like the reboot of “Gilligan’s Island” – Lost — which started out with a few people lost on an Island, and slowly sank beneath the waves.

Reboot “Sleepy Hollow”, and pretend the season 3 finale never happened, and that Lt. Abbie Mills as played by Nicole Beharie wasn’t killed.

The Wonder Years set in the '80s or '90s.

Isn’t that The Goldbergs?

How about a family sitcom set in the Star Trek universe?

The Munsters

they tried that.

Great cast, except for Jerry, who was woefully miscast as Herman.
