Some personal stuff below. Potential TMI. Decided to tell it here as I wanted to talk to someone other than my wife but it’s private so don’t want to talk to people we know and it’s anonymous here.
So my wife and I want to have a kid. She’s 39 so it’s not going to be easy. As she doesn’t have periods we went to the doctor. Turns out she has PCOS. Now it’s going to be even harder to have a kid. We went to start fertility treatment, I had my semen checked and she had her tubes checked. All fine.
We were going to start off with IUI and had to have blood tests beforehand. Mine came back clear but hers came up showing she has Hepatitis B. The doctor said it looks chronic rather than acute. It’s strange as she’s had a couple of tests in the past few months and they came back clear. Also, as her sister has had chronic Hep B for 20 years or so she’s been vaccinated a few times. I asked if it could be a false positive but the doctor said no. I wonder if it’s likely that they got her blood mixed up with someone elses?
So, because of the Hep B they’ve put the fertility treatment on hold and referred her to a specialist.
I think I may have to resign myself to never having a child. It is sad but at least I love my wife deeply and have her.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
