I love the New Sun tetralogy, but I never made the connection until you brought it up here.
Opening line of “This is Ponderous,” a novelty record/song. Frequently played on the Dr. Demento show, but I admit to blanking out on the artist’s name.
My own contribution – not particularly obscure, but I like it because it works well in many situations:

The first quote is definitely from “Damnation Alley”, the unforgettable Jan-Michael Vincent epic (ahahahahahahahaha!)
I have a hunch the TV quote was from “Cheers” and spoken by the Coach.

I don’t recognize the quote, per se, but the style is straight outof John Lennon’s books rom the mid-sixties. Am I close?
