Stupid "fire lanes" not bad enough for the Pitt

You know what really grinds my gears? Firelanes…no no no not the big long stretches where a fire truck would park but little itty bitty 18 inch long ones usually on a curved part of the street. No no not in front of fire hydrants. Just the little small corners that are sometimes marked fire lane and painted red. Dont get me wrong you should not park there and they should be painted red, and they should say NO PARKING not firelane. Like i am supposed to beleive they are even going to need that little foot long semi circle.

Any pictures? A better description, please. Are there signs on each end of any of them or just red curbing? Are they marked with painted words, “FIRE LANE”. Are they at street intersections? If at intersections, do cars park close the the intersection where these markings are not in place? What means, “curved section of street”? Are they all 18 inches long? Not enough info.

I’m guessing they need to be clear so fire trucks can negotiate the turns. No Parking doesn’t carry the same weight at Fire Lane.

In front of a fire hydrant perhaps? Here is what happens when you park there.

The only thing that would improve that photo is another one of the hose bursting inside the vehicle!

Have you ever seen a ladder truck take a ninety-degree corner at 45mph? Those spots, on curved parts of a street, are not just “you aren’t allowed to park here” but “your car will be mercilessly destroyed by a ladder truck that needs those extra two feet to take the turn at responding-to-emergency speeds.”

I seem to recall a thread a few months ago where more than a few EMT and fire department personnel had seen or experienced fire trucks devastating cars that parked in fire lanes or no-parking zones near corners.
