Stupid liberal idea of the day

The left likes affirmative action because you’re a racist and they’re not.

The left likes higher taxes because they believe in paying their fair share and you don’t.

The left likes welfare because they want to help the poor and you want them to starve.

The left likes illegal immigrants because they believe in the brotherhood of man and you are a bigot.

The left loves Mother Earth but you treat it like your own personal ashtray.

The left wants single-payer health care because they believe the sick deserve care, while you and Ron Paul laugh like drunken hyenas when someone dies of a preventable illness.

The left…ahh, this is getting boring.

Do tell.

Can’t we get back to thinking about Garafolo and Moore doing squishy things with each other?

mmm, creamed corn.

What?

Some folks on the right occasionally like to paint everyone on the left with the same broad brush, presumably because it make them an easier target.

The Republican Party’s springboard to national-level success was their Southern Strategy, an inherently racist strategy that worked very well for them. They continue to benefit today from the foundation built upon racism.

It’s hardly unfair, then, to regard the party itself as racist. Add to this the continued racist pandering that appears in their political campaign efforts and right wing communications (e.g. Willie Horton, “Harold, call me”, anything Rush Limbaugh has to say), and it’s clear that racism in the Republican party is more than just being attractive to extremist retards.

So, don’t like being tarred as a racist? Do something about it other than whining about how unfair it is.

(Of course, I’m talking to anyone other than Starving Artist. He’s irredeemably stupid.)

OK, at least I get what you’re saying now.

Anytime anyone holds a political position, though, unless it’s entirely expedient and cynical, isn’t it because they believe it’s the ‘correct’ choice - that its long-term benefit to government and the people it governs is better than the ‘other’ choice?

So, then, saying the ‘other’ side pretends a moral superiority is something anyone can say about the opposition at any time, and it becomes somewhat meaningless.

No.

The Democratic Party derives a good portion of its power from what is essentially a race-based spoils system consisting of affirmative action, the SDB and 8(a) programs, and similar set-asides, quotas and mandates that are not just informal party strategy but the law of the land.

The Republicans apologized for the Southern Strategy years ago. When will the Democrats step up?

So, on the one hand, a strategy to shamelessly reflect, exploit and tacitly endorse racist beliefs that continues to this day, and on the other hand efforts to address economic disparities and historic systematic discrimination through the rule of law.

Is there supposed to be some kind of equivalence here?

Moron.

Hey, bup, here’s what I was talking about. It’s what 19th century politicians called “waving the bloody shirt”.

Plus the Southern Strategy was devised by only a small number of Republicans relative to the overall population and aimed at a small number of people relative to the overall population. Most of the country’s Rebublicans were not racist then and are not racist now. The fact that most Republicans are not racist explains the increasing success of blacks in Republican politics, and the more who see the light and run in the future, the more successful they’ll be.

So the success of blacks in a political party is reflective of the prevalence of racism in that party?

The success of blacks in the Republican party depends upon their coming to the realiazation that they are welcome after all. The more who run, the more who will be elected.

When? How?

I love Starving Artist’s argument it’s the blacks fault black people are less represented in the Republican party. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry each time I read it.

It’s standard practice for the party chairs to apologize for the southern strategy after they leave the chairmanship. Micheal Steel is the first to break the tradition while in office he said it was a bad idea and alienated black voters for generations.

I’m trying to figure out if you’re worth responding to, or if you’re defective like your partner here. So far, it’s not looking good.

There are smart people here. Why are there so few intelligent conservatives?

If you appear to intelligent the other conservatives assume your a spy and kick you out of the club. The smart conservatives make sure they publicly say something stupid periodically to keep their place at the table.

Nope, it’s the fault of the left for making them think Republicans are racist and wouldn’t welcome them or vote for them.

Pay no attention to Hector the Librarian. Like Lobohan he attempts to make himself look smart by throwing around words like moron and idiot whenever someone disagrees with him or has a different point of view.

And like Lobohan he fools no one.
