Stupid liberal idea of the day

The nutcase mullahs, both Sunni and Shia, want war. War will bring Allah rushing to their side, Allah will neutralize the nukes in midair, Allah will sweep away armored divisions with a flaming sword of righteousness. Then the whole world will see that they were right all along…

Horsesht, of course, toxic, deadly horseshit. But every aggressive posture we make, every wedding party we drone out, strengthens their hand. Their Big Lie is that the West hates Islam, our Big Lie is that Islam hates us. Hard for me to see how underscoring their Big Lie is any advantage to us.

An immodest proposal. Attack with wi-fi. Corrupt them with Taylor Swift and Victoria’s Secret. Forget which of Mohammed’s relatives or in-laws should have been caliph, the real question is who was Jon Snow’s daddy? Flood them with cheap smartphones that can download three hours of raw porn in two minutes flat. Drones with bombs? Fuck that, drones from Amazon.com.

Seduction is more humane than war. More effective, too.

How about the tens millions more Iranians who support their system of government, which far outnumber the opposition.

Barack Hussein Obama did have his chance to stand with the people who opposed the Mullah regime of terror, and he passed it up 7 years ago.

OK, you’re completely right in all respects. Tomorrow, Barack Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Hussein Obama will speak the magic words “Radical Islam” aloud, thus ending the terrorist threat once and for all.

Aside from the GOP picking some new weird fetish as their reason why Obama is wrong about everything–including by doing whatever it is they just asked him to-- what exactly do you expect to change?

Specifically, what exact actions would you LIKE America to be taking right now (assume you have dictatorial powers), and what do you expect the outcome to be? Because right now, all I’m seeing in this discussion is “Obama did everything wrong” over and over again, and the occasional “make sure we offend them all, that’ll teach 'em” comment, and nothing that would actually solve the problems.

You don’t grasp the simplicity, here, TimeWinder. We have too many enemies, we need a whole bunch more!

He had a choice and thankfully he didn’t bring us into a dumb war. And cite that the majority in Iran supports their government?

Interesting to see Hussein back… It had been a while. Thus confirming, once again, the personal issues you have with the man’s background, not with anything he’s actually said or done, since you constantly get that wrong.

Barack Hussein Obama loves the terrorists so much that he killed Bin Laden and has protected Americans from violent Muslim extremists far better than his predecessor.

Which you worded like a TFM. Iran’s system of government is Democracy, only subtly different from America’s system of government. Apart from Khamenei’s veto, Iran is probably the most democratic state in the area, except, perhaps, for Turkey.

And, of course, if they genuinely hate the US, you might take some time to find out just exactly why that might be. A good place to start would be Reza Pahlavi: he was an utter asshole, but he was our asshole, installed and supported by the US.

It won’t count unless he’s wearing a flag pin. A big one. On *each *lapel.

And then they’ll dream up some other weird, laughable shit.

That should really go in the Stupid Republicans thread.

If he does that “… he couldn’t even stand up against us, he’s too weak to be president, who knows who he will bow to next …”

Freedom House ranks Iran as "not free" nor do they rank it as an electoral democracy (which really only means anything if the society is ranked free).

Also, Reza Pahlavi was far better on human rights than the Mullah Regime, and at least they honoured America and Israel, the two best nations in the world.

Why is it liberals always think standing up to Islamic tyranny means war? Or standing up to any tyranny means war?

Seeing as this is the Pit, I’ll say that while I got no issue with Obama’s background, I do have a problem with his view of the Muslim world and Islam; and I suspect its because he doesn’t know how to detach his own experience from when he was a youth to the modern reality, which is something separate from both that and so-called post-colonialism he was peddled at university. I’ll only refer to him by his full name in the Pit, not elsewhere. If Obama honoured the great principles of American exceptionalism and support/honour for the Jewish State of Israel that his predecessors did (as in not publicly chiding it and its leaders as only he does), I wouldn’t mind him.

Is anyone else amused that his own cite from this post ranks US at 44th and Israel at 69th on an aggregate score basis?

Not that I think the US or Israel are bad (alternate-universe-me would be perfectly happy to have been born in either I’d imagine), but how exactly are you measuring things so that they’re the two best in the world?

You really do have a delusional worldview.

read the map; Green countries are free, yellow are partly free, blue are not free. Israel and America are not only free, but America freed the world from fascism and communism, and will do so from Islamism. Israel has been at America’s side, and maintains democracy in a jungle of autocracy and Islam theocracy. And Israel, unlike Europe, has moral courage and isn’t undergoing Islamization as Europe is.

If standing up to tyranny meant voicing support for the protesters, than Obama did this.

Obama does honor American exceptionalism and the Jewish state of Israel. Disagreeing with an Israeli leader who has criticized him in a totally unprecedented way does no dishonor to Israel.

You “mind him” because you’re a bigot who doesn’t know it. It’s the Pit, so I’ll call you what you are: an ignorant bigot who judges people by their middle name and ethnic background.

And you don’t know shit about about honor or patriotism. Serve the country and actually risk something, otherwise don’t try and pretend you know the slightest thing about either, you cowardly, ignorant bigot.

Read the table, which actually gives more precise ratings than the green/yellow/blue levels of the map.

As that table clearly shows, the US has an aggregate score of 90, making it equal 44th.

Obama started the public fights with Netanyahu long before Netanyahu came to Congress, which I suppose is the “unpredecented” way you claim Netanyahu “criticized” him. I’m not a bigot; I’m just tired of the apologism, the downplaying, etc. that Obama has done about Islamic terrorist evil jihad.

Cite for Obama apologizing for Islamic terrorist evil jihad, please?

invoking the Crusades last year when addressing criticism of Islam, saying ISIS was “un-Islamic,” the “workplace violence” at Fort Hood, equating The Holocaust to the so-called “Nakba” in Egypt, etc. I could go on.
