So, just to be clear, the complaint here seems to be, “Tim Kaine said something that wasn’t true”. Later investigation shows that other news sources, including those closest to the event, were reporting the same thing, which turned out not to be true. So you have a politician who spoke before having all the facts.

Mostly, I hear that when the facts pretty much have emerged, and the politician wants to avoid talking about it.
I agree that Kaine should have waited till more facts were in before assuming the attack was carried out with guns. He could have tweeted something expressing concern and so on without committing himself to much of anything. He should have thought for a minute more before taking to Twitter.
Thank god we won’t have a guy with such a careless, shoot-from-the-hip attitude in the White House.
