Well, there’d be no stupid conservative ideas either if someone just went on every day and said, “This is nothing. This is nothing. This is nothing.” How’d that work out for you guys as the response to every Clinton scandal?
“There would be no stupid conservative ideas if…”
That’s good. Trademark that.
Snark was so successful as well. Oh well, don’t change, no skin off my back.
Anyway, I wonder why the governmnet powers that already exist to combat propaganda are insuffiicent. Is this new threat the greatest we’ve ever faced, greater than Al Qaeda propganda, Soviet propaganda, or Nazi propaganda? What new powers precisely do Democrats think the government need that it doesn’t have?
You don’t have to be a genius to figure it out. Having Clinton go out there and say “lives are at stake” is not a statement designed to build support for moderate, reasonable legislation.
I don’t know. You’re the one that brought it up. You tell me.
I’m only here to judge its relative stupidity.
Far be it from me to add facts to this discussion, but Clinton is referring to the Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act. It passed the US Senate by a vote of 92-7. Either there are only 7 conservatives in the US Senate or this is not a liberal idea.
If you want to read the text of the bill, a pdf of the House bill’s text is available from the link. I read it; it mostly sets up an interagency committee to collect, analyze, and debunk propaganda by foreign governments. It spends $20M over the next two years and will expire in ten years.
Fake news is not the press. There is no first amendment right to incite violence.
More importantly, libel isn’t protected the First Amendment either!
(And due to a little thing called Times v Sullivan someone like Hillary Clinton has an extra hurdle to jump when suing someone who accuses her of being a child molesting cannibal. :dubious: (And finding out just who TrumpLover17 is, so they can be sued, requires certain websites to do things that are guaranteed to cause a “huge” shitstorm.))
CMC fnord!
You mean to suggest that the government has options for responding to foreign propaganda that don’t involve violating anyone’s rights? That’s crazy talk. Next you’re going to try to tell me that the First Amendment doesn’t protect foreign governments’ propaganda operations. And after that I suppose you’ll try to convince me that private companies like Facebook aren’t obligated to provide a platform for fake news and propaganda. Stupid liberal!
And still waiting, Clothy. Man up already.
Never happen. One too many bare-foot kicks to the head means that he couldn’t find his way back to this thread with a relevant fact/anecdote with a team of Sherpas and pack mules.
Outsourcing American jobs. Sad!
Please quote me chapter and verse where I have ever said gay people are an abomination.
Can’t do it? Figures. Fuck off.
Every moronic, feel-good law ever passed by liberals in political office. You want two specifics? Obamacare is a great one to start with; the massive stupidity involved in passing that piece of crap is causing everyone to suffer massive increases in health insurance premiums.
And what the heck, let’s take minimum wage laws as another. First showed up under FDR and since their inception has caused prices to go up and employment to go down every time they are raised.
And just in general, talking with liberals is painful because of their massive disconnect with reality.
And one would think after 7.9 years of fuckups, Obama would be keeping his head down and his mouth shut these last few days. But no, he just had to hock one more loogey on us by saying that employers requiring their employees to speak English on the job is discriminatory.
You just can’t make this kind of stupid shit up.
You want the real stuff, gotta go with the radical lefties. Tell liberals the whole truth, they will only believe half of it, don’t want to upset their balance.
The tighty rightys have to put up with the Trumpiviks and the Tea Party, we got to suffer the liberals. That seems fair.
Cite that “everyone” had “massive increases” in premiums? You do realize that if a single person didn’t have one, that invalidates your incredibly broad statement, right?
Also, cite that employment has gone down and prices up every single time the minimum wage increases? That’s every single time, you said. Every one.
Or are you just using extreme hyperbole for rhetorical reasons? Or just because you really don’t know what you’re talking about?
There was very little suffering. Most increases were subsidized, and the higher premiums were worth it because the policies are so much better - no lifetime caps, no pre-existing conditions, etc. You are a guy who was paying $200 a month for a Yugo, and is pissed off because he now has to pay $250 a month for a Mercedes.
No, they haven’t.

Whoops. Not in so many words. Just “Deviant”.
And then there’s this:
And this:

(From a thread where you pitted someone for calling you out on the bullshit in that post I quoted above, no less!)
But okay, you know what? Maybe I’m wrong about you.
Do you think that homosexuality is deviant, wrong, or abnormal?
Easy to go through life like Clothahump, thinking that everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot. Much harder to recognize that decent, smart, and honest people can disagree and come to different conclusions about things.
