Stupid liberal idea of the day

He also continues to ignore that the very words he uses are straight out of Andrew Breitbart’s ass. “Obamacare was rammed down our throats” was a phrase repeated by every RW media outlet and lo, the very same words emerge from their viewers and listeners unaltered without benefit of any critical filter. As near as I’m able to tell “rammed down our throats” means “passed by majorities in both houses even though we tried to stop them”.

As for “the left does stupid things on a daily basis”, that was the premise Clothahump started this thread on and yet pretty much every example he’s offered has failed miserably. Surely if there are so many to choose from he could post a few more and actually articulate why they’re stupid (by which I mean something more substantive than “Just look at it! Of course it’s stupid!”). I’m not holding my breath though - I’ve posted more examples of stupid Democrats than he’s managed to.

Not forgetting, ignoring. I’d be surprised, to the point of almost being willing to wager cash, if this wasn’t pointed out to Clothahump at least a half dozen times.

Because it’s actually democratic?

Progressive thinkers pride themselves as being on the side of science and reason, in contrast to Republicans who embrace Creationism, etc. However a thread in Great Debates has reminded me that there are some issues where it is conservatives who follow reason, while liberals reject science and common-sense in the name of “political correctness.”

A case in point is the differing roles of father and mother in a nuclear family. Conservatives favor “tradition.” Liberals demand that father and mother have equal roles. Yet equality doesn’t make sense rationally. Men and women do not have equal physiology, hormonal balance, or emotional instincts. The GOP’s support for lowering women’s wages to encourage them to stay home is wrong, but so is the liberal idea that work and home duties are best split equally. As usual, reality is more complicated that political stereotypes.

(Of course, even though they may start from an intellectually superior position in this one case, the GOP is quick to sacrifice the moral high ground. It is the GOP which ridicules single mothers and delights in putting financial obstacles in their path.)

That may be a liberal stereotype, but is it a liberal idea? Have any prominent liberals explicitly advanced a demand for legal requirements for equal division of housework?

Well, it’s more of a cultural demand, by feminists, which other liberals generally accept in principle (if not performance) for lack of any apparent good reason not to.

You’re funny.

Do you ever break character?

So what prominent liberal feminists are advocating for this law?

Nobody demands a law, it’s just that feminists in general think that’s how things should be in American domestic culture. It has been so since the 1970s. Remember Free to Be . . . You and Me?

Your cite that prominent feminists today are pushing for this is a children’s book from 1972 written by That Girl?

Huh, so that’s when America became the minion of Satan.

It’s when we went awry*.
*pronounced “AW-ree”

No, that’s my cite that a more or less equal division of housework has always been a basic principle of American feminists ever since the 1970s. Prominent feminists today? I don’t know if they even bother to say it any more, since everyone already knows they think it.

Surely if “they” are all thinking it, you can find something contemporary from a modern prominent feminist pushing the idea?

Don’t ask me, I can’t even name a prominent modern feminist.

I thought maybe you had caught some of their names while you were reading their minds:

And here I was supposed to clean the bathroom today while my wife goes to work. Can’t wait to tell her I didn’t do it because it was a stupid idea!

Pics, or it didn’t happen.

Do you want pics of him saying it, or pics of the smeared mess left on the wall after he says it?

Pics are only required to prove something unlikely, as in getting away with it.
