Stupid question, where does one go to get an avatar if one wants one?

Title pretty much says it.

I’m not tech savvy at all but if I could find one of those little avatars that are being allowed it might be fun to at least look at them.

Can someone explain how it’s done?

Sure! I’ve done it once.

Google, say “Weiner dog images”. Pick the one you want, save it to your computer. Go to https://avatarmaker.net/ , and follow the directions there to resize your chosen image for an avatar.

Tip: square images seem to work best, and the smaller the original the better the avatar seems to come out. But that’s just my experience. Like I say, I’ve done it once. :wink:

Edit Avatar (under settings)
Find any old pic (that’s the right size - specified on the settings page)

Regarding size, for this site the image needs to be 50x50 pixels or less. You can use other programs such as Paint to resize your image if you know how to do it.

It doesn’t matter so much what the initial size of the image you use is, but that it is simple enough that it “reads” clearly at a very small size. Complicated images with a lot of detail won’t look like anything.

For example, I had absolutely no idea what your avatar was supposed to represent until I downloaded it and looked at it in a higher magnification.:wink:

I still don’t know what it has to do with catfish.

Just in case you’re asking a bigger question, an avatar is any picture that you choose to upload to represent yourself. There’s not a specific type of picture called an avatar.

For this site the size is limited to 50x50, but that’s just the setting the board uses.
