Firstly, your cite is from 2013 and secondly it’s an American story being re-run on the Australian version of a website (and the Huffington Post wasn’t operating in Australia in 2013, when the story was written).
My cite is working in newsrooms where I was the only male, or vastly outnumbered by women. At one media outlet I worked for, there were 84 people in my department and 18 of them were male.
The majority of the PR people (and like it or not, that’s part of the media now) I’ve dealt with are female.
Now admittedly I don’t do much with TV or radio, which does have more men in it that women, but in print/online media - in my experience across multiple mastheads in multiple locations - there are definitely more women than men.
Use of the term “Social Justice Warrior” does not make someone alt-right. I think it’s a cromulent descriptor and while I know I have a lot of unpopular views in this thread, I don’t think anyone would seriously describe me as alt-right.
That’s crazy talk. Giving people money merely to have numbers balance is a ludicrous form of equality. How about those people provide value to the market and earn it?
Not to mention the whole “earn it” is authoritarian nonsense.
In a market economy, you “earn” wealth by doing what other people want. In other words, the only way to obtain the material requirements of survival is to subordinate yourself to the will of others.
Gender pay gap debate #79397396? Doesn’t sound interesting. Other than to note that if there were a systemic underpaying of women with regards to market value why haven’t companies exploited that and crushed the companies full of overpaid men?
See, right there, more evidence. You could have chosen from a vast catalog of powerful insults, but, by some strange random quirk, you landed on an ethnic one.
Only if it’s an upper case M, you dumb fuck. If you spell it with a lower case m it means retarded. I apologise for crediting you with a larger vocabulary than you evidently possess. Rest assured, I won’t make that mistake ever again.
Okay, genius, if you’re so fucking clever, how do you explain the fact that I respect Hillary Clinton* and despise Donald Trump? Does that strike you as an alt-right stance? How do you explain the fact that I support single-payer health care and progressive taxation? How do you explain the fact that I support instituting a mandatory carbon tax and investing in clean energy technologies to fight global warming…y’know, that thing the alt-right thinks is a myth made up by the Chinese? How do you explain the fact that I support stronger gun control legislation and prison reform? How do you explain the fact that I’m a firm supporter of Israel, and that I find the rampant anti-semitism on the far right (and the far left) to be abhorrent? Is there some pro-jew faction of the alt-right that I’m not aware of? How do you explain the fact that I am sympathetic to the demands (although, admittedly, not always the methods) of Black Lives Matter, to the point where I would cheerfully advocate disarming the police? How do you explain the fact that I’m pro-choice, pro-marriage equality and pro-trans rights?
Which, in your sun dazed tadpole mind, is more likely: That you’ve managed to find the only pro-Hillary, pro-Israel, pro-BLM, pro-gay, progressive taxation endorsing anti-gun alt-righter on Earth? Or that you’re a fucking moron who doesn’t know what the term ‘alt-right’ means?
The histrionic, insincere, self-congratulatory, cry-bullying and grievance mongering on the far left shames the centre left. That’s why I don’t like SJWs. You don’t have to be right wing to find these people obnoxious.
[sup]*[/sup][sub]As a politician, that is. Even I have to admit she was a lousy campaigner.[/sub]
