Stupid User Names

I believe they fixed that. At least on my browser, the long names just push in the name box a little on that one post, not the whole thread.

Howzabout this… does anyone think SPOOFE Bo Diddly is too long? I’ve been considering just shortening it to JMSPOOFE, the standard name I use for most other 'Net dealings (my webpage, my E-mail addresses, etc.). Whatcha all think?

Only names that contain spaces will wrap to a second line. If your user name contains no spaces, the other fields get pushed to the right. And it’s dammned annoying.

I second that emotion.

SPOOFE, I wouldn’t worry about it. Everyone just calls you Spoofe or Spoofer anyway.

Balderdash!! Short and sweet it is. And relatively [[mysterious]]… Nah, that’s to smarmy. (((oo, oo, my first pit post!!)))

Our office now has a client with a surname of well over two-dozen letters. The really challenging part is that the letters do not form up to anything remotely coherent in English.

To say nothing of refusal to capitalize a username. Obviously, people who do not do so are either functionally illiterate or have low self-esteem :stuck_out_tongue:

What about that guy Totoro? Geez, what a stuipid name!

::ducks and covers::

Hey, wait a sec. He told me he never comes to the pit. Sucker!

ehhhh fuck you dude :stuck_out_tongue:

I think all user names should include a reference to the posters IRL name…

No, no, no – the Bo Diddly gives it a bit of an edge. Hey, Bo Diddly!

I agree, though I have to go with Akatsukami on the capitalization thing.

I gotta go with oldscratch’s ten charachter theory, as long as a space can count as a charachter.

Alternatively, all user names should sound like an actual person’s name but have absolutely no relationship to the user’s actual name.

Love, Mike.

BF: Usernames with only two characters suck.

Hey! I resemble that remark! I’m not short on self-esteem, I’m just short! Capital letters give me a nosebleed.

I think the very best names are those that begin and end with a vowel. So there.

What aseymayo said!

Too short to reach the shift key? I say we launch these grammatically challenged halfpints with my goat cannon.

Personally, anyone with an odd or obscure reference in his username should be tied to a post in rural Montana. At night, the ice weasels will come and eat his innards. Of course, if he has strapped weapons grade plutonium to him the weasels will be discouraged and be forced to wait until St. Twiggin’s Eve, when the Twigginskind comes up from his abode in Antarctica to sunder all plutonium bonds. Then the screams of those tied to posts in rural Montana with plutonium bonds ring out in the frigid night.

No, really.

or rather, I like the option being available. I think some of them are pretty damn funny. “I’m gonna bulk up on fonts”? You don’t see the humor in that?

On a BBS i used to frequent one of the most beloved posters was a guy who went by the handle “Aquaseafoamshame”. I loved it. I was told that it came from some musical group or something, but it still made me grin.

Props to the Stoid-a-matic. Viva la difference!

I was just at a thread with these worthies:
**
Fairy Princess Kitty
three bunny mama
Speaker for the Dead
Intriguing Question Mark

**
And those were the names that catch the eye and get remembered.
The people with short names, like MC, I never realize are there.
