My username doesn’t live up to oldscratch’s standards. It only has 4 letters and isn’t witty. 
But it’s Sanskrit, does that make it ok?

I think that picking out your own user name is getting totally ridiculous. Maybe the mods should pick out names for all the presumptuous newbies. I just found out recently that there is a Quisp Eater posting. Come’on don’t you think I would know if that was true?? If your going to lie like that at least send me flowers or something, then I might let the little worm get away with it.
Personally, I think I have the most brief-and-to-the-point username on the SDMB- not to mention intelligent. I think you’re all just jealous that you didn’t think of it first.

Well, oldnick would have been more concise–shorter than 10 characters–without any more confusion. (We even had someone post once or twice as Satan which was much shorter and was less confusing.)
I would guess that posters who ostentatiously pick ten-character user names are most likely dekaphiliacs who are simply not able to deal with life unless their O-C tics are satisfied, (although, I understand drugs can help).
Remember, when we pick our usernames, it is before we are experienced. I had no idea my username was going to be a bit too long- I figured it fit in the box, so it was OK.
At least folks don’t get me mixed up with other folks. Sometimes I get Spoofe & Spooge mixed up, and a few otheres.

I think that all usernames should contain a reference to Bloom County.
10 Characters is most definitely the way to go. All you losers with more or less than ten should think about changing your lame-ass monikers.
