Sudanese woman sentenced for apostasy

…if anyone was still under the delusion that law and justice are the same thing.

Sudan has a government? With courts? Who knew?

You might be confusing Sudan with Somalia, no?

She was just greedy, and so it was a possessive apostasy.

She is pregnant, so soon it will be apostasy for contractions.

As is often the case when Fox News fans are shocked by the barbarity of Sharia Law, it is firmly rooted in the Bible, e.g.:

2Ch 15:12 And they entered into a covenant to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul,
2Ch 15:13 and that whoever would not seek Jehovah, the God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

or:

Deu 13:6 If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is like your own soul, lures you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods which you have not known, you nor your fathers,
Deu 13:7 that is, of the gods of the people who are around you, near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth,
Deu 13:8 you shall not consent to him nor listen to him. Nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare, nor shall you hide him.
Deu 13:9 But you shall surely kill him. Your hand shall be first on him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

And of course, Jesus endorsed that complelely:

Mat 5:17 Do not think that I have come to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to destroy but to fulfill.
Mat 5:18 For truly I say to you, Till the heaven and the earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall in any way pass from the Law until all is fulfilled.
Mat 5:19 Therefore whoever shall relax one of these commandments, the least, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of Heaven. But whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of Heaven.

It appears in this case, there’s neither the law or justice at work. Even putting aside the issue of whether apostasy should be a crime, Ibrahim is not an apostate. She’s stated that she’s always been a Christian and was never a Muslim. The basis for claiming she is a Muslim is that her father was a Muslim (her mother was a Christian).

Under Muslim law, the children of a Muslim father are automatically Muslim.

So we’re acknowledging that many parts of the Muslim world haven’t yet advanced past 1000 BC? Okay. It’s too bad we didn’t have a Prime Directive back in the day. It would be a better world if these people didn’t know we existed.

Not sure where you got that date; it’s way off for Chronicles, let alone Jesus. And technologically, they have advanced dramatically since then.

But they do believe that God is eternal, and that he meant what he said, and that the Timeless Truths of Scripture are just as valid today as they were centuries ago.

If you applaud when Santorum or his like say we need to get back to the Bible, or favor posting the Ten Commandments in schools and courthouses, you need to be aware that there were a lot more than ten.

But even they would be enough to make mowing your lawn or washing your car on the Sabbath a capital crime.

Pretty much puts them on an even level with a lot of the Christian world.

So then Barack Obama is a Muslim! And, since he professes Christianity, also an apostate.

I’m guessing executions are less of an issue with powerful foreign men, though.

I believe the law says that the children of a Muslim father are supposed to be raised as Muslims. But Muslim law says nobody is automatically a Muslim. If you have not professed the Shahada, you are not a Muslim even if you have been raised in a Muslim family and a Muslim society. You must become a Muslim as an individual.

This would flummox Santorum even more: Sunday is not the Sabbath. Sunday is the Lord’s Day (because Jesus rose from the grave on a Sunday). Early Christians observed both, and eventually dropped the Sabbath as they moved away from Judaism. But no scriptural injunctions about not working apply to Sunday by any reasonable interpretation.

She is being released:
