sugaring - hair removal (tmi)

i bought some body/facial sugaring stuff AND the proper muslin strips.

I followed the directions; heated the sugaring mix for 15 secs and applied a thin layer on my bikini area. I rubbed the muslin strip and quickly ripped it off, only to discover NO hair was ripped off.

Since I had stopped shaving for some time (in preparation to sugar) I have a fair bit of pubes down there… BUT now they are just all sticky. Not sticky enough to adhere to the muslin to be ripped off, but sticky as in I poured a bottle of maple syrup on myself.
Is there any tricks to this? something that I don’t know and is written in the directions?

has anyone else sugarred?
BTW, this sugaring mix has added Aloe Vera to soften the skin. Perhaps it’s not as strong or sticky as the plain sugaring mix?

Thanks.

Better start over. First, I’ll have to remove the existing sugar with my tongue.

May I call you sugar?

Did you try applying cornstarch to the area first? I’ve heard that can help.

I don’t know whether to laugh or say “eeww” to a mouthful of sugar covered pubes, rsa.

We need photos to properly diagnose the problem.

Well, not that this is really any help at this point, but I’ve had fair success with the generic no-heat hair removing gel products similar to Nad’s.

I’ve tried sugaring before, but as you discovered, it’s quite messy and not nearly as effective as I’d hoped.

Hrrm so I take it a suggestion of using a disc sander would be both unasked for and unwanted?

Have you considered using duct tape instead of the sugar and muslin?

I’ve found that if I put too much on, it won’t work, if I don’t put enough on, it won’t work, and there are just some body parts that it isn’t going to work on, no matter what. (legs for example. must be shaved. the hair resists every other type of removal.)

I use a canadian mail order brand… I’ll check the label later.

What a mess, everything is sticky!

the sugaring mix and muslin strips set me back $40, but there I found myself AGAIN soaking in a tub with a pink razor in hand. And now I’ve smeared zinc cream all over to prevent any redness (and with fingers crossed, any ingrowns)

The job got done but no thanks to sugar.

amarinth… thanks. I think I might have used tooo much.

Rub the strip, once on you skin, a lot of times so the wax sticks to it, basically, it warms it up.
Then pull fast trying to stay parallel to your skin to in a upward motion.
Good luck! Some wax are just better than others.

  1. The wax may have been too warm.
  2. You gotta make sure that you put the wax on in the direction of growth, and pull the strip off in the opposite direction of the growth. This is very important. It always works for me!

You spent $40 on this stuff? I get it at the CVS, Target or grocery store for like $9. There’s enough to do your bikini area for a year!

I think I just broke about four deadly snis reading this thread.

Lust, of course. Gluttony. Jealousy. (oh, to be a strip of muslin)… and I’ll let you work on the last one.

Sins. Dammit, sins. So much for pride…
