Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

At first I thought this looked bloody awful but after seeing some of the new trailers I have changed my opinion. This has great potential. Arnie needs a comeback. After repeated viewings of T2 I have grown to hate that movie. Hopefully T3 can renew my faith in the franchise.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

I am calling it now, “instant classic”. Sean Connery as Allan Quartermain? Genius, pure genius. I would place a DVD pre-order now if I could. For those who love fantasy and the transportive element of film, this is the film for you. Sit back, relax and enjoy.

Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl

The longshot. Really, for me, it’s sitting on the fence right now. 50/50, could go either way. I am going to see it, that’s for sure. With brilliant special effects and a good story could Depp be back? Only time will tell.

Bad Boys 2

I am very biased when it comes to this movie. I loved the first one for what is was, a simple, funny, buddy action film. I have been waiting ever since for them to make a sequel. But to be fair, it has an acquired taste. If you liked or loved the first one, then definitely check it out. From the trailers it looks like it won’t disappoint. But if you didn’t then you might want to save yourself the money and go see something else. I’m hyped though, just a shame that they couldn’t bring Tea Leoni back! (Grrrrrrr!)

Johnny English

I don’t know, I seem to be the only one that like Mr. Bean: The Movie. It holds a special place in my heart. Hopefully they’ll make a sequel to that, but in the meantime we have Johnny English. For a James Bond fan (which, surprise surprise, I am), I think this is a must-see. There are certain to be many a Bond homage. The Tie caught in the moving food escalator looks hillarious, plus you got “The Malkovich”! Austin Powers look out!

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life

Not really a huge fan of the first one, in fact I think it’s pretty bad. I probably won’t be checking this one out, although the lure of Angelina Jolie might just win me over in the end. If you dug the first one’s groove or are an extremely huge action fan, then sure check this one out. But if you didn’t like the first one, steer clear like it was a Carrot Top movie.

Buffalo Soldiers

Okay, it’s not a blockbuster, but I had to include it. Joaquin Phoenix, despite a poor performance in a poor film Signs, is a really good actor and do I even have to say anything for Ed Harris? I know the about 95% of people probably won’t see this movie in theaters, but I think it’ll end up a hidden gem that will gain wider acceptance up video release.

American Wedding

I didn’t want to like the first one, but was pleasantly surprised. I loathed the second one. Now with the full cast not even returning for the 3rd, I think I’ll skip this one. It’ll do huge numbers, but is it worth your time? Unless you love all things American Pie, I say no.

S.W.A.T.

Prepare for the slap down! Sam Jackson as Hondo!!! Colin Farrell as Street!!! This is gonna be huge, absolutely huge! Even if you’re too young to remember the tv show, check it out! Special Weapons And Tactics all the way baby!

15th

Envy

Again, this probably won’t be a blockbuster but I had to put it down. I love both Ben Stiller and Jack Black. The plot sounds hillarious and rumours that Chris Walken is in the mix somewhere with a cameo? Come on! I am guaranting that you will literally split you sides, I don’t know what this medical condition is called, and have to be taken to the hospital.

Freddy Vs. Jason

I am a big horror fan, it’s actually ridiculous. I went out yesterday (Friday the 13th) and rented Friday the 13th (I know I’m a nerd). This one has been a long time in the making. Is it going to live up to all that us horror fans have dreamed of? I hope so cause I’m in line right now buying a ticket. My money is on Freddy! (He knows when you’re sleeping, like Santa Claus.)

That’s it for now I think.

Felix

I forgot Charlie’s Angels 2. I loved the first one, this one looks even better!

This thread is better suited for Cafe Society. I’ll move it for you.

I watched the Terminator trailer at a showing of Matrix Reloaded. Perhaps it was provided out of context, but they mentioned that the Terminatrix’s (yep, it’s a she!) mission was to destroy the human race (not John Connor, not his mother, ALL of humanity) in its entirety. Which begs the question: If they leave no trace of humans, who is suppossed to build the AI that will eventually rule the world?

I’m confused–but am eagerly awaiting the flick, though. Terminator rocks.

Cheers,

You’re betting on Freddy eh? Are you nuts? That movie is guaranteed to have a cop-out ending. No one is going to win!

What about Hulk?

I’ve seen it; it’s great. I is quite a serious drama, though, so it may bomb.

I know I forgot. Hulk will rock!

I know, there will be no clear winner in F V J, I think the director even stated that.

I didn’t realize all the Terminator stuff, oh well, I’m sure they’ll do something about that plot hole.

Yeah, sequels are bad for continuity. Time travel is bad for continuity. Sequels to movies about time travel ARE VERY, VERY BAD FOR CONTINUITY. These movies stopped making sense about halfway through the first one anyway. Just enjoy the explosions.
