Summer Movies: What are you excited about?

I said it poorly - I meant the original series. Even back when it was popular I never was into it. I’m a big fan of cartoons, but Transformers never caught me.

But I agree the movie wasn’t very good - even to pass the time on a long dull plane ride.

Ooops, sorry about the misidentification. Thanks though for whetting my appetite even more! I tried not to read too much, just enough to get the gist of what it was about, because I didn’t want to be spoiled, and that’s why I didn’t get that it wasn’t Swedish (I guess I had Let The Right One In in the back of my mind).

Just tell me, is it a horror/comedy, a horror with some comedic moments, or a full on, break-your-fingernails-off-clutching-the-seat horror?
I am so glad that others are looking forward to Moon too. I’d never heard of it until last night and it automatically jumped to near the front of the list for anticipation, and that’s just based on the description and Sam Rockwell. I didn’t even see any stills from it, and won’t. I don’t even want to watch the trailer. I want it to be 100% fresh. Must…resist…drm’s…link.

Wait, its a sci-fi movie that isn’t a sequel to a previous successful sci-fi movie? I wasn’t aware we were doing those anymore.

In anycase, I’m avoiding any sequels, at least until enough people have seen them and told me they’re actually worth seeing. But in anycase, looks like there’s enough original films on equipose’s list that I won’t be too bored.

It’s a comedy horror.

Sigh. This must be what getting old feels like. There was a time I would’ve seen all of these, and now I didn’t even know most of them existed (seriously. Even the big ones like a new Harry Potter, GI Joe, a new Transformers, etc.)

May 1 - X-Men Origins: Wolverine
May 8 - Star Trek
May 21 - Terminator: Salvation

June 24 - Transformers 2

July 10 - Bruno

August 21 - Inglorious Basterds

I caught this one at Sundance, and it really was terrific. Fantastic cinematography and completely hilarious. I’m not much into Nazi zombie movies either.

I came in to throw in another one for Star Trek, but I think I’m going to wind up seeing Dead Snow. Sounds like a lot of fun.

The Tarantino flick…without spoiling it for me, can anyone tell me if this is expected to be a good one? I love the dude, but I haven’t heard a word about this movie. The IMDB contains spoilers so I can’t get more than the most basic info.

Anyone?

The only preview I’ve seen has Brad wielding an accent so annoying that I fear I will miss this one.

I think we want to see Star Trek and the Harry Potter movie. And Pixar has been consistently good, so I want to see Up – but not as much as the other Pixar films I’ve seen.

I hadn’t heard of Moon until this thread, but the preview doesn’t thrill me. The computer looks like a poor man’s HAL, and it’s got that man-on-his-own-is0-he-going-crazy setup that always annoys the hell out of me. But the body that looks just like him sets off my BS alarm the way the poster for Event Horizon did. I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

“Up!” is probably the only one I’ll see.

I can’t get my wife to go to an action or sci-fi movie at all nowadays.

“body that looks like him”

Great. I avoided watching the trailer because I didn’t want to be spoiled about anything, and here I’ve been spoiled in a thread that isn’t even about Moon. :frowning:

The Boat That Rocked looks like a lot of fun. And Jack Davenport plays a guy named Twatt! What’s not to love?
