Super Bowl XLVII: Seahawks vs. Broncos

Hey did anybody notice Troy Aikman saying the Broncos needed four touchdowns and three two-point conversions when they were down 29-0? I thought he would correct himself later, but he actually repeated it later in the game.

I have a bit of a tear in my eye.

I thought I would never see the Lions in a Superbowl. But now, thanks to the Broncos, I really feel like I have.

I wonder if Pete Carroll snuck him in.

It was a boring game. I do highly respect Seattle’s cleverly crafted defense. They had a brilliant plan to cover Denver’s receivers and executed it with perfection. It’s no accident that Manning got intercepted very early. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a defense shut down someone that elegantly.

Then Seattle’s offensive did enough to rack up some impressive points. Denver’s defense deserves credit for not letting this become an even bigger blow out.

That’s okay. Seahawks deserved this. Congratulations to you and other fans.

Did you watch the same game I did? Denver’s defense looked like they were playing two hand touch (and they would have lost that game just as badly).

You mean Pete Carroll?

Even if you did not watch the game, the score tells you which team was smoking hot and which team was just smoking.

Seattle didn’t inhale.

Best. Super Bowl. Ever!

It is all perspective. I thought it was a great game (being a Seahawks fan), well executed by Seattle, spread out fine play by many Seattle players, was tough to pick a MVP, and frankly I thought Harvin deserved it. Really only played this one game but worth every penny. Seattle played their game Boss, nothing else to say.

Never seen the first play of a game so perfectly define the entire thing.

Maybe he was thinking like this:

4 TD’s = 24 pts
3 2-pt conversions = 6 pts

Total = 30 pts

?

It predates 2009. At least as far back as 2003, though I don’t think it goes back to the 90s.

Fucking mathematics, how do they work?

Yeah, that was a WTF moment. Dunno what he was thinking…or smoking.

I’m reminded of an episode of The Simpsons in which (I think) Homer was given a gift of the Denver Broncos and was not very happy about that.

Marge tells him, “But I thought the Denver Broncos were a real good team.”

Homer sighs and then tells her, “Marge, you just don’t understand football.”

It was a great moment in an otherwise average episode.

Denver D was pathetic. I think it was the last Sea touchdown where five defenders made the most pathetic tackling attempts Ive ever seen.

I was really looking forward to this one as it should have been a great game.

Well, they did hold Seattle to FGs on the first two drives after the safety. Denver gave up three scores and was only down 8-0…then the wheels came off.

What are the odds he could end it even worse?

Not sure this is good news or not.

Manning is a great QB during the regular season, no question. But every year in the playoffs I hold my breath when he plays, because I am waiting for the inevitable collapse.

This game was not completely his fault. There was a lot of blame to go around, not to mention praise for the Seahawks. But when you have a QB like Manning, you want to think that he will be able to help your team ride out a rough spot in the game, and play well enough to keep your team within striking distance.

I am so happy I am not a Bronco fan. Having Manning come back is great for your fantasy team, and odds are if he stays healthy, the Broncos get back into the playoffs. But I am not confident that he will ever win another Super Bowl. I personally believe he presses when he’s behind, and that first play safety seemed to rattle him.

To me, he’s the Bill Cowher of QB’s
