I haven’t renewed the league yet because I wanted to do a poll first to see if everyone is still interested. This league didn’t turn out quite as I’d hoped, with our most active players engaging in more communication and participation, but I think it may be because we’re oversaturated with leagues already. I’m trying to shed some leagues myself to get my participation/enjoyment rate higher for the remaining ones, so I’m not terribly interested in continuing this league.
Unless we implement what we started to discuss last year. The idea was that we’d have 4 drafts - the initial draft, and then a draft after every 4 games after that. We’d essentially play four quarters of the football year, total up all the points, and then declare the winners and losers. It’d definitely get my interest back up in this league because I love to draft, and in-season drafts are definitely different. We might work out some sort of keeper system, or we could just start fresh each time. Probably the latter, for simplicity, and it has a certain elegance to it. That would definitely set this league apart moreso than it already is and I think keep interest high.
I’ll start looking into the actual logistics of such a thing. But for now, I’m wondering if people are still interested in this league if we ran it the same as last year, and/or if they’d be interested in running it with 4 drafts.
This is the one league that once the draft is over is significantly different than all the others. With the amount of players you end up playing it adds a piece, which to me, that makes this league more interesting than the rest. It’s the only league which plays 2-3 QBs, and then you add the relegation aspect and I end up biting my nails in this league more than the others.
With that said, I don’t mind the redrafting, if we can find a smooth process to manage it.
As I think I said last year, I’d absolutely love to do the redrafts as long as we can figure out how.
Failing that, like **Beef **I also don’t feel compelled to push for another year, though of course I’m happy to continue if everyone else is.

I’m going to be travelling for the next week. I’ll be able to use my ipad sometimes so I’ll try to look, but if someone wants to help me out by trying to find a viable, free drafting site we can use, or even another fantasy sports site other than yahoo if they allow drafts through the 12th-13th week of the season, please post about it.
I have been unable to find anything that allows redrafting. At least on a free site, but some pay sites don’t go into a lot of detail.
A thought, could we start 4 leagues (or 2 if that is too much) and set the drafts to coincide with where we need them to fall? Then all it would take is for us to keep track for an overall winner/relegated team.
I haven’t done much research on this issue because I’ve been travelling for a couple of weeks, but I definitely would be interested in making this happen. We could do four separate leagues and just add up the score at the end of the year for the relevant periods. We could probably only do the first quarter on yahoo - yahoo stops allowing you to draft sometime in October, and some people are near their max number of yahoo league’s and wouldn’t like many more, although since they upped it to 8 per account I don’t think this is as much of a concern.
I know everyone likes to just use yahoo, but since it’s just the 6 of us and we’re all active players, I think it’d be practical to sign up for another site if that site allowed drafting through at least the 12-13th week of the season.
Incidentally, I totally forgot about the whole relegation thing. My bad. Hamlet is relegated, but I forgot to start the whole process of having everyone else nominate invitees, and in general, we haven’t even quite locked down the format. I may invite others to take his spot to maintain one of the core ideas of the league, but if I don’t get things up and running in time, we may just have to run with the same people as last year. Sorry for being late about all of this - I’ve been travelling a lot all through august.
ESPN only drafts through Sep 20, I can’t figure out when CBS Sportsline stops drafting. I’m not sure if there are any free mock draft sites where we could have private drafts.
One option we always have is to simply have sort of an online live draft - all get on skype or mumble and then get our own lists of the top players and check them off as people verbally draft them. I actually kind of like the idea, but I’m not sure how that would fly with everyone else.
I’m thinking we could do different scoring systems or roster sizes or what have you for each of our four quarters. Maybe 4 QBs one quarter, maybe all flex spots another, maybe an efficiency type scoring another, etc. A way to test how good people are at adapting their strategies. And the combined total of all four quarters is the winner.
I don’t think yahoo allows us to change the number of roster slots in a league during the season, but we could get around that by just creating a bunch of flex spots and then adhering to the appropriate rules during that quarter about what the slots actually allow, leaving some empty if need be. I believe the scoring systems can be changed mid-season, although I’m not 100% sure of that.
Anyway, would you guys be interested in working this all out that way?
What do we think about drafting Friday or Saturday, before most of the games for week 1? Or even during the Thursday game tomorrow, I’m not sure if people are going to be home for that. We could do our initial draft now and figure out the rest of the drafting plans later.
