(Fantasy football, not Final Fantasy.)
Football is back, and I’ve been so starved for games I’ll even watch the preseason scrimmages…
I saw the keeper league thread and thought I’d try something a little less demanding of both the players’ and your humble commissioner’s time, so…
I want to start up a redraft league on nfl.com, 10-player standard (or auction, if everyone agrees to it), generally using the standard rules, but that can be hashed out later.
The only requirements are that you have a fair idea how to play, and that you commit to the entire season, 14 games plus two playoff games if you qualify. (I hate it when players start doing poorly and then just disappear, leaving the rest of the league in the lurch.)
Anyway, if you’re interested, post here and I’ll hit people up in PM’s about getting things up and running.
I would suggest you come up with something novel about the league if you want to attract interest. We ran basically the same league you’re proposing as the auction league and it folded last year after like 8 years because most of us are already in a few leagues and when downsizing the generic/vanilla ones tend to go first. Most of the new leagues we’ve been able to get off the ground have had something different about them - the big league has 20 players, the dynasty league is entirely different from normal redrafts, etc.
Otherwise good luck - not trying to discourage you, just giving you my experience - new users who aren’t already committed to leagues are rare around here, and it’s been harder to find replacements over the years, let alone starting new leagues.
If you’re interested in getting in one of our established leagues (all-pro, big, he hate me) there will likely be some positions open this year. Although I strongly encourage players to be involved in their teams, post to league threads, etc. So if you’re concerned about taking up too much time/commitment it may not be a good fit.
There’s a big difference between being a player in a league and being the commissioner. If that’s the case, I’m up for it…but the only league I’ve seen here is the keeper league that appears to be full.
I’d rather not do a huge league, though…20-player really cuts down on the quality of teams, and magnifies the one or two lucky picks.
We’ve actually got a spot open in the He Hate Me league if you want to play there. Might have a slot in the All-pro league too, which is a fairly normal redraft league, just with some optimized rules, but I won’t know for sure until people have had enough time to sign back up. But if you want the HHM slot I can give that to you now. Go ahead and post in that thread if interested.
Hmm…got a link for the ‘current’ team (i.e. possibilities for keeper)?
I’d still rather do the redraft, but if there’s no slot there I’ll do the keeper thang.
I haven’t done the official keeper list yet, but the two teams two teams are No Use For A Name and HungryHungryHaruspex. I don’t know how we’d decide who gets what roster yet. We’ll work that out when I do the official keepers soon. Come and join us in that thread.
