Superbeings in the Buffyverse

Idly thinking about this and thought hey, let’s put together a list of the extant superbeings in the Buffyverse! The ground rules are: individuals, not species; Earth-based; and they have to be alive as of the Angel series finale.

So, we have off the top of my head: Buffy, Faith and the rest of the Slayers; Wilow; Angel (he’s alive, dammit!); Ilyria; Spike; Amy; Lorne; Gwen; Dracula (he always comes back); Dawn (included based on origin); Harmony; Connor; Clem; a Gorch brother; Oz; Angel’s werewolf girl whose name escapes me; Ethan Rayne.

I’m sure there must be tons more, so start a-listin’!

And on a completely unrelated question, when Faith was attacked in prison by the big gal with the wicked-looking knife, was the knife a Bringer weapon? I think so now, after having seen it like a million times and just today noticing it and making the connection.

There’s also Invisible Girl out there somewhere, doing work for the government.

I think Principal Wood gets an honorable mention as the child of a Slayer. Not superpowered himself, but a pretty unusual background, none the less.

Principal Wood is not a superbeing unless being scorchingly HOT is his superpower. Which it rather is, so never mind.

Is Drogyn still around or did he die towards the end of Angel?

The werewolf girl is Nina.
Drusilla.
Clem the flappy-faced demon who likes Bugles and Parcheesi fled Sunnydale alive.
Lorne.
Groo.
D’Hoffryn.

Is D’Hoffryn actually Earth based?

But mentioning him, didn’t Anya get her Vengence Demon powers back before the end of Buffy?

Drogyn was killed in the last few episodes the series.

By Angel. In order to insinuate himself into the Circle.

Amy’s still around, isn’t she?

By ‘as of the Angel finale’, do you mean ‘as it opens’ or ‘after it’s over’?

If the former: There’s Marcus Hamilton, and the Circle

If the later, none of them survived the last episode (but, honestly, I don’t think Angel and crew did, either), so…

Didn’t Doyle’s ex-wife’s fiance, who wanted to eat Doyle’s brain get out with a stern talking to, a broken engagement, and his life? If so, he and his family are still around.

Clem? The minister from BtVS S7? I thought he was bisected by Buffy in the last episode?

God, yes. Forget Spike or Angel… the true (male) sex symbol of BtVS is Principal Wood. (Of course, I also think Xander and Andrew are hotter than the two vamps too, so my taste is a bit odd when compared to most)

No, Clem is the demon with the big floppy ears.

You’re thinking of Caleb, played by Nathan Fillion.

Ah, thanks. I’m still a neophyte and trying to get everyone’s names and histories straight and with a universe as extensive as this, it can take a while.

Since when does Clem have super-powers? Other than making his face go all Beetlejuice, he’s never shown any abilities different from ordinary kitten-loving poker players.

I kinda got the impression that even the wimpiest of demons was significantly physically stronger than a human being, which is why Cordelia supposedly needed to accept being part demon in order to be strong enough to sustain the Visions.

Aesiron, I’m glad someone besides me was hot for teacher. Ah, Principal Wood. Give me detention, baby.

I thought of another demon superhero type… the character that Bai Ling played in “She” - Angel season one. imdb tells me the character was Jheira.

Also, Sweet from “Once More With Feeling.”

There’s what’s her name, the redhead telekinetic lady.

Did The First survive the end of Buffy? I can’t remember at this point.

Does Pavayne count? He kind of still exists, but isn’t exactly alive.

Mustn’t forget Drusilla.

Yes, it was a Bringer knife, to tie it in with Buffy.

Buffybot

In fact there was a room full of them I recall.

I forget her name, but there’s the other vengeance demon that’s not Anya.

Oh, and Tengu:

She did, but gave them back up again, or had them taken away, i can’t remember, cause she didn’t want to do it anymore. But it doesn’t matter anyway, cause she died in the Buffy series finale.

Is Whistler still alive? That’s his name, right? The guy who recruited Angel to become a champion of good?

I didn’t… I mentioned her in my first post.

The Buffybot was destroyed in the season seven opener. It was torn to pieces by the demon bikers. There was no indication that it was saved to be rebuilt.

Halfrek was killed by D’Hoffryn in retaliation for Anya’s choosing to reject her demon nature in a crappy S7 episode, “Selfless”. She wanted to reverse her frat boy slaughter and the cost of doing so was the heart of a demon. She thought D’Hoffryn would sacrifice her, but he summoned Halfrek and burned her up in front of Anya. He commented, “Haven’t I taught you anything, Anya? Never go for the kill when you can go for the pain.”

If Ethan Rayne counts, then Giles counts. All Ethan did was magic, which Giles can do. And if you count them, you should count Andrew, who could call demons.

Sweet wasn’t earth-based–he ruled a demon dimension, came only because he was called, and then went back there.

How about the demon who gave Spike back his soul?

D’Hoffryn doesn’t count (not Earth-based).
Principal Wood doesn’t count.
I included Ethan because he was a dedicated practitioner, whereas Giles isn’t.

Buffybot was destroyed in the season 6 opener, not season 7. April still existed (but was defunct) as of the end of her ep but presumably was destroyed with the rest of Sunnydale.

Add to the list the demons Angel and Co freed in “The Ring.” Some of them had names but I don’t remember them.

There’s also the transformed members of the swim team.

I’m conflicted as to whether to include Phantom Dennis.

I think Amy the witch’s mother, Catherine Madison, is still trapped in the cheerleading trophy that was left in the rubble of the old high school, but where the rubble and the trophy is now, after the new school was constructed and then the hellmouth was exploded open is anybody’s guess.

There are hatchlings of the giant praying mantis that almost ate Xander out there somewhere.

There’s also a dragon that came through the portal in “The Gift” flying around somewhere.

Bai Ling’s character, Jheira, also was not Earth-based. She was a strange visitor from another dimension.

May we count Gunn, on account of his brain?

Yes, as far as we’ve seen or been told, Whistler is still alive.

The new Slayer who tortured Spike is still around, right?

And did Angel kill the blind woman-assassin who tried to kill those children?

Add the Furies and that dimensional expert who closed the portal to Quortath.
