SuperBowl XXXIV: Detroit 34 - Jacksonville 23

So it’s going to be St. Louis vs Tennessee.

<yawn> At least I’ll get my laundry done next weekend.

Bizarre game. Battle of the defenses. And what was up with that review of the reception in the final two minutes that was ruled an incomplete? I ahte to agree with JOhn Madden, but that was a complete pass.

Oh, well. Game’s over.

That was like watching sloths wrestle in molasses.

The local radio announcers here in St. Louis also said it was a complete pass. No question about it. But they didn’t complain much about the bad officiating.

This is a hard SB to pick. The Rams look better on paper, but the Titans seem to have some kind of magic power that enables them to beat superior teams. I’ll go along with Bricker, Rams 34-31, but only because I live here.

Hey Falcon, we picked 'em today!

For the Hyperbole, I’ll join you in picking Titans over Rams.

Buses stop at bus stations; trains stop at train stations.
There’s a work station on my desk.

I still say the 49ers are going to win this SuperBowl.

No way…Titans are going to win this one. They’ve already beaten the Rams once, and as we’ve seen, they do well against teams they’ve already beaten. Plus…the Rams had a hard time today playing against a really good defense. I think they’ll have problems against Tennessee’s D as well.

So…I stand by my prediction. Tennessee over St. Louis (30-24)

“You are sweet, kind, and considerate… Like a grown up boy scout with tits!” - Brian, aka SDMB’s one and only Satan.

Regardless of who wins, let us all be thankful we’re going to be spared the spectacle of two Neanderthal teams battling to a 3-0 final score.

Although they were pretty much beat today, I still say StL will win the SB. TB made the offense of StL look retarded today. If TB had any offense it qould’ve been embaraasing to watch. Well, me being a Bears fan in Rams territory has something to do with this I guess.

Why thank ya Rufus! Can’t wait to see the Super Bowl…hopefully the real St. Louis offense will show up this time.

Oh, and Rufus? First round at the DC gathering is on me! Just won at LEAST $200 in my office’s fantasy league!

Since the Jets were once known as the Titans, do I get some sort of vicarious, ethereal bragging rights if Tennessee wins?

Or am I stuck with the Same Old Jets[sup]TM[/sup] and their accidental coach?

P.S. Good job, Falcon!

Livin’ on Tums, vitamin E and Rogaine

Way to go, Falcon! I’ll gladly drink to your success!

manhattan: Only if you’re talking about the Houston Jets.

That was a typo! I really meant Tennessee over Jacksonville! Honest!

Since I picked Jacksonville to win it all, I guess I’ll have to change my SB XXXIV prediction to… Tennessee! The faults of the Ram attack were exposed. Lots of blitzing tends to overwhelm them and Warner can’t find his receivers in time. If TB had gotten that pass called in their favor, they just might have scored. The Ram defense looked tired and Alstott or Dunn might’ve broken one for the goal line. Saturday, I will give my prediction for a score.

And watch out for Tampa Bay next season!

I’m mystified as to why the Rams are favored (initially by 9; now down to 7). Anyone care to explain?

Before the playoffs, there was wide recognition that some of the teams with great W/L records hadn’t been tested by their schedule - particularly the Jags and Rams. (The Colts and Titans, however, played winning teams during the season.) So there was much reason, before the postseason, to favor the Colts and Titans over the Jags and Rams.

Since then, the Titans have beaten the Colts and Jags. The Rams have beaten the Vikes and Bucs. Again, I’d have to credit the Titans’ playoff performance more than that of the Rams.

Conclusion: I’d expect the Titans to be favored, and would bet on them if they were, say, 3-point favorites. What am I missing? And where can I get a bet down on the Titans, minus 7?

What I wanna know is, is it too late to make the Rams move back here to L.A.?

sigh

First L.A. lost the Rams, then they lost the Raiders.

What next? Are the Dodgers going to move back to Brooklyn too?!

Prediction:

20–Tennessee
14–St. Louis

See ya Monday!

Well, you always have the Clippers.

I almost never predict a score in these things; I’m not very good at it. But I’ll take a shot here:

Titans 30, Rams 16.

THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!!
THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!!
THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!!
THE GIANTS WIN THE PE

Uh, oops, wrong sport.
