Lois needs to be played by an actress who can do tough and smart. One of the boys, but still her own woman.
I hope they get the costume colors right this time. The last movie would’ve still sucked with a great costume, but still, maroon is not red. And the cape shouldn’t look as plasticity as a shower curtain.
There needs to be lots of action. Too much action. Every Superman film comes up short on this, and it makes no sense these days when we’ve got the special effects to capture super heroics and city-wide brawls. Superman has to punch somebody as well. Has to. Throw one of his superpowered villains at him, put Luthor in his armor, anything.
In one of Cuthbert’s infamous scenes in “24”, her side story finds her wandering around the hills of California and runs into a cougar that she has to fight off. It was a clear sign that the writers completely ran out of things to fit into the show, or what to do with her storyline.
Shouldn’t Lois be closer to 30, or even 35? Are they losing her mysteriously-parented super-kid? Lois is someone who has been around the block a time or two – she can’t be – what was Bosworth, 23 years old? Margot Kidder was, like, 29 when she was cast.
Yes, Reeve was very tall but also very skinny. But he had that face – I mean he actually looked like Superman. He worked out but they didn’t have enough time for him to get very bulky (did they try to shoot the Clark Kent scenes first to allow for this? I forget). But there’s also the argument that Superman doesn’t need to have huge muscles anyway – he’s Superman! He can lift airplanes! As long as the actor has a certain build and bulks up at least a little… ah, heck. He’ll still never be Christopher Reeve.
True. This was one of the problems (among many) with Routh. Yeah, he did sorta have that look. If he were to dress up as Superman for Halloween, you’d be impressed. But, overall I thought he was too babyfaced and too emo-looking, and, unlike Reeve, did a pretty piss-poor job of projecting strength. He looks like he’d top out at maybe 150, soaking wet and holding a barbell.
She’s playing Catwoman in the next Batman movie. It would be too confusing, especially with Christopher Nolan in charge of both movies. Otherwise, I’d say she’d be a decent choice.
Erica Durance. Yes yes I know that Smallville no doubt has killed her chances, but her interpretation of Lois Lane is so much more in line with the character Siegel and Shuster created.
Yes, actually Routh did a good Supes. It was bad writing (Sups lifts a island made of Kyrptonite, and turns into"super-stalker" for a while), a horrendously bad Lois (way too young, bad acting too), and Super-kid that made the re-make into such a bomb.
Well, if this movie works and if it can generate a timely sequel, I figure it’ll be the best opportunity to introduce Wonder Woman if they’re still serious about eventually giving that character a movie of her own. I’d guess it’d be safest to give her a major supporting role first, and the possibility of a romantic triangle with Superman/Lois/WW has story potential.
Besides, I figure it’s also time for the DC movies to seriously consider a tie-in strategy, as Marvel is doing with its Avenger projects.
