Supernatural 10/7 The Girl Next Door

Sam pisses off Dean, again, to try to solve a case from childhood that he’d thought was done and over with.

“My…bloodiest valentine…in 3D!”

“Amy Pond, huh? Cute name.”

Well, for once Sam is being honest and Dean is being deceitful. I have a feeling Dean’s “Stab first, ask questions later” approach is going to come back to haunt him very soon…

Jewel Staite looks even better than she did on Firefly, IMO.

I was kinda hoping we’d get a quick appearance by John Winchester during the flashbacks.

I think I realize what’s been different this season and most of last, the thing that makes me miss the earlier seasons; Sam and Dean are too grown up now. Time was, Sam was lucky to get Dean to stop hitting on the local girls long enough to listen to some lore, and Sam’s awkwardness and angst betrayed his unusual upbringing more. I can’t imagine this Sam supergluing Dean’s hand to a beer bottle or Dean taking on a case just so he can shag an actress (Hollywood Babylon style) anymore.

Since there is an anime series based on this show, I am hoping for an ep later this season with the guys finding themselves anime’d.

Kind of bizarre how we went from main-arc cliffhanger to monster-of-the-week in mid-episode.

Sam’s pronunciation of kitsune as “kit-SOO-knee” was pretty grating.

You say that like it’s a common everyday word every 3 year old should know how to say.

Anyway, I know it’s probably not the case, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if the young Amy Pond was played by Jewel Staite’s cousin? :stuck_out_tongue:

Since I’m not sure how to pronounce it myself (something like kit-sue-nay?) I found that far less annoying than the idea that Kitsune is a mid-brain eating monster. A Kitsune is a trickster god; no brain eating there, just the ability to turn into a fox. Jeez, between this and the leviathan, don’t you get the insulting feeling that they think 0% of the audience knows anything about mythology?

Killing Amy that way was cold, and I think between her and the werewolf chick, a psychologist would have a lot to say about Dean’s inability to accept Sam dating girls who are “monsters.” Of course, he was right about Ruby 2.0…

Was it just us, or did anyone else think that “young” Amy looked, oh, about 25? And what happened to Jewel Staite? She’s looking much better these days than back on Firefly. Must be because she’s all grown up now
