Supernatural March 16 2012 "Out With The Old"

Dean handling those shoes was funny. Actually, this is a pretty good stand-alone episode so far.

In the end, an acceptable episode, but not a great one. So, they are trying to cure cancer? What is their angle on that?

It’s on later here. A ballerina dances herself to death? Intriguing…

I was so disappointed because I had it in my pointy head that tonight was Castiel’s return. (That’s next week.)

Apparently new older guy isn’t going to be Bobby’s successor.

After you’ve averted the Apocalypse what do you do for an encore? I’m still watching out of habit but the show seems really flat at present. OK, I’m missing Misha Collins and I’m missing Bobby but apart from that I get the feeling the writers are scouring the bottom of the bin for storylines. This episode with its cursed objects was a pure recycling of the old TV series Friday the Thirteenth. Ransacking 80s TV for your plots is sheer laziness.

Yeah, they kind of pushed it like it was going to be last night, but I guess it’s next week. I don’t think he’s returning as a main lead, though. :frowning:

Especially when it wasn’t that great an 80s (syndicated) show to begin with.

The cure will no doubt come with a horrifically high price–and not just monetarily.

I’m guessing the Leviathans are interested in curing cancer for the same reason humans are interested in curing diseases in cows: to create more efficient livestock production.

twas my first thought -

Ah, the old Jasmine scheme. We’ll give you a perfect world, you just have to let us eat some of you now and again, okay?

Why would dancing your feet off necessarily be fatal?

I am so ready for the end of the leviathan story. They are just not that interesting and the CG mouth thing is silly looking.

Hopefully they will get back to ghosts and demons in the next season if there is one.

Poor Sammy - he needs Castiel to come back and fix his broken head.

Yeah, the research centre to cure cancer fills me with dread, too - we don’t like our meat to be riddled with cancer? We give you the cure for cancer, and you worship us as the gods we are supposed to be? Humans are the cancer (a la “The Matrix”)? Something not good for humans, anyway.

Congratulations to Jared Padelecki and his new baby boy!

ETA: And Genevieve, of course.

While this is most likely the reason, I was actually hoping it would be more complex. Like that it turns out the Leviathans are actually the good guys, who are actually working to save humanity – either from ourselves, or from a greater threat that wants to destroy us all. Although, obviously, they don’t want to save every human – just, you know, humanity as a whole. I think that would be fun.

But it’s probably what Pyper said.

I’m wondering why there was no follow up on the cancer thing.

Assistant monster “We will cure cancer. We’re here to help!”

Dean “WTF? Elaborate please.”

Instead we got “kthxbye.”
