Supernatural Season 9 Ongoing discussion(spoilers as it airs)

This episode was much funnier and less cringe inducing than the previews suggested. The Yorkie was hilarious.

Is Sam going to figure out this angel thing before Dean gives up and tells him?

So why ARE dogs on earth? Guess we’ll never know.

Nope, MGM made the movie, Warner Bros makes Supernatural.

ed: hmm… looks like WB has distributed the MGM movie in some forms, including the recent 3D conversion

It seems like a lot of people hated the ep from what I’ve read online, but I was giggling like crazy during it. I think a lot of it was that at least it wasn’t a black woman in chains and a collar in this dog-related episode.

Supernatural is the very last show that I still watch religiously. Five years ago, there were at least six or seven shows/series that I consistently watched. But Supernatural (‘The Hardy Boys’) is the only one that keeps me interesting and coming back week after week, season after season.

Showrunner Jeremy Carver has stated that he has plotted out the storyline that will last at least through Season 10. Prior to the Season 9 (current one) getting the official green light, the President of CW said that Seasons 9 and 10 “looked promising”. So I’m pretty confident that we have at least one more season after this one. Jensen and Jared both have signed on for a Season 10 if it happens.

Very few shows have made it more than 10 seasons, especially with the same main characters for the entire series run. But if anyone can make it happen, it’s my Winchester boys!

Episode 20 of the current season, which will air February 11, 2014 at the earliest, will introduce a new character. The CW is considering a spin-off series with this new character as the anchor for the new show. If the spin-off gets the green light and debuts while Supernatural is still running, I hope they avoid the whole cross-over thing. Laying the groundwork for a spin-off is one thing, but when characters keep crossing back and forth between shows, they always seem to suck…

BTW, people who don’t ‘get’ Supernatural are douche bags! :dubious:

If I had my way they’d outlast the Simpsons. It will be a strange day when there is a CW but no Supernatural. How many shows out there have been around longer than the network they’re on? (Granted, so has that awful Tyra Banks trash, but I don’t even consider that a show).

Is Ezekiel Lucifer? Is that even a possibility?

No, but IMHO he’s some other fallen angel.

I stopped watching religiously after season five, or maybe six, but I’ve dropped in occasionally since then. The coolest thing about the show for me is that it’s fun to watch even when I don’t know what the hell’s going on with the plot.

It’s all Jensen and Jared and their chemistry, and the car and the music, and Castiel and Bobby, etc.

And the road trip aspect – who doesn’t love road trips, in TV, movies, and books?

I am just catching up with it on my laptop, got to the third ep so far, liking it. I’m going to convalesce with Sam, Dean, and pals/enemies after I have hand surgery (again) in a few days.

Cas vouched for him (when he still looked like Helo), so if he’s not cool, he’s also using a false name.

Ah, this was it. It’s Galadriel, who has now killed Kevin Tran(no!!!).

I’m pretty sure his name was GAD-riel. Going by his conversation with Metatron, apparently he was the angel guarding the Garden of Eden from evil (e.g. the serpent). Since he done screwed that up, God locked him away in Heaven, but did not cast him down to Hell.

As we’ve seen many times before, just because someone dies on the show, that doesn’t mean it will stay that way! Maybe Cas (or even Crowley) will bring Kevin back? Then bring Mama Tran back (we don’t know if she’s really dead) and let her kick some celestial ass- hardcore! That would be awesome…I loved her character.

The closed captioning had the name as Gadreel.

I did a search, there’s an entry for both Gadreel and Gadriel in The Encyclopedia of Angels

I’m pretty sure it’s Gadreel.

I am not pleased by this most recent development, and I fear it will be permanent. Maybe occasional hallucination appearance or something. Poor Kevin. :frowning:

I can’t vouch for the veracity of your source. Assuming the name is in Hebrew, there is no difference in that language between “Gadreel” and “Gadriel”.

I wish I could say I cared about Kevin dying, but he was kind of annoying anyway (both on his own and also in how the bros treated him). Hope the next prophet is cooler (and treated better) if he/she comes into the storyline.

Galadriel, I have to admit I kept accidentally thinking of that as his name as well. Damn you LOTR!

I do wish it was Gadriel rather than Gadreel, I don’t suppose the closed captions could have been wrong about that. The double e version just looks a little more like you’d expect a 1950’s style space alien to spell his name.

NPR had a story on Supernatural. Thought you might like it.
