Supernatural Season 9 Ongoing discussion(spoilers as it airs)

The premiere just came on. I was very intrigued by the end of the last season and I hope this season is a full return to form for the show.

Cas is human, Sam is nearly dead(again), and Dean is somber(again).

Weird that Sam is kind of out of the show for a bit.

Disregard this. I didn’t realize Sam would regain control of his body.

Yeah, after they made such a big deal about how much repair work was needed even from the inside I was expecting it would be an episode or 2 before Sam woke up.

Yay bobby! even if just only in sam’s coma fantasy

Good episode tonight, but it again reveals budget limitations. We got Crowley this time, but no Castiel. Unless they get approved by the network in advance, I don’t think the show can have everyone in one episode due to having to, you know, pay them all.

I don’t like Abadon or whatever her name is. For the first episode last season with her it was kind of neat, but I don’t like her as a season-long Big Bad. I really don’t like near-indestructible villains, which is another reason why I hated the Leviathan too. At least with Yellow Eyes, they knew there was something, but just not what. Lucifer was never all-powerful. The actress is fine and her chemistry with JA was entertaining, but it just comes across as a pretty Leviathan story.

I guess I’m just kind of bummed overall because so many shows I like have just tanked the last few seasons or are starting to. I’m running out of shows to watch that I actually enjoy and not spend the whole time thinking “That part sucked.”

He was pretty damned powerful, pardon the pun. I mean, he survived being shot with the Colt! THE COLT!

Yeah, Lucifer was pretty powerful. More powerful than anything they have fought since, I’d say.

He wasn’t just a quick gank-him demon, but he didn’t come across to me as the Terminator.

But thinking about it, maybe it’s because we didn’t see him hand-to-hand combat with the boys and we saw his vessel fall apart. Plus he had (has?) mental issues, which made him have that as a vulnerability. He appeared to be less robotic, less like the Jurassic Park T-Rex than Abadon.

Keep in mind as well that Lucifer considered himself to be in the right, despised demons as much as humans, and wanted/needed Sam to agree to be his vessel. I think S & D were very lucky not to have had to face him head-on. The way he handled all of the old gods was pretty brutal.

And AWESOME. I love that episode. I wish they could find a way to bring back Trickster/Gabriel from time to time. Plus I laugh every time at Busty Asian Beauties references.

Does anybody else think that Dorothy the Wicked Witch Slayer could be a good series?

I loved Dorothy’s attitude, that’s the kind of woman they need (and won’t have) more often on the show. I really want to like Charlie but she got really annoying, especially in comparison.

I’m surprised they had the ruby slippers. Unlike Oz in general, that’s not public domain. Doesn’t seem like Supernatural would have the budget to pay for the rights. Also if they’d changed them, it would’ve fit right in with the story, since there was a lot of “they just made up that part” stuff going on.

Well, they never actually called them “Ruby Slippers,” right? And the ones in the movie were all Bedazzled or whatever, as opposed to simple red.

True, but I am surprised they use them. Is the show made by the people who made the original movie, by any chance?

Tonight’s episode was kinda funny-

Dean as a “dog” barking at the mailman was ADORABLE…

And Leslie Jordan’s unmistakable gay, Southern twang as the voice of that Yorkie was hilarious! All he wanting was a belly rub from “that tall drink of water” (Sam).

Who played the villain in this episode?

The role was played by British actor Steve Valentine, but I’m not sure if the character’s name was actually mentioned.
