Sure I'm insensitive, but you're fat.

Just saw the second link. Ugh. Those women have nice, voluptuous figures, but are not fat. They have muscle tone and are curvy, like many, many women are. People suck.

OK, so apparently plus size is a fashion term for average. And I still would never come up with the word "plus"when describing that woman.

Honestly, I don’t understand why anyone cares what fashion mavens say, men or women. In this case, it seems blatantly at odds with reality. That a plus size model could be below the average is ridiculous on its face. Why give it any credence?

It seems to me that aside from a very small portion of the population, women are much more concerned with how models look than men are.

As to the OP, this guy is a goof, he’s going to cringe over this for many years and he has poisoned his alumni network. I almost feel sorry for him.

I think the skinny supermodels can be beautiful, and the curvy women can be beautiful. It’s silly to try to fit beauty into a box. Anyway, I think those women in the KISS show are far from average.

Obviously they are looking damn good. By average I was referring to dress size. One of the articles you linked makes the statement that the average woman is a size 14 and that the new “plus-size” Ms. Otis is a size 12. I am learning much.

A size 12 is plus size now? Yeesh.

Considering the “lollypop heads” like Calista Flockheart (size 0) I guess so.

I was impressed by KISS’s proclamations that the women were “real” etc. Nice to see evidence that some men are mature and appreciative of real women.

Gene Simmons:

I love this quote by Geno. It is funny, true, and slightly creepy. The trifecta!

Well I must say if 12 is plus size now, then I’m a plus size women. All of my male friends think my body is the perfect size, but compared to more than half the girls on the Purdue campus I’d be considered a fatty by others opinion of fat.

By the way, who is to say what is fat? Oh right…society…I forgot. Well I’m proud of my fat self…I’m beautiful.

That’s amazing. You can’t even BUY size 12 at a plus size store. Isn’t the body image of plus-size women bad enough?

Plus size women are beautiful enough, we don’t need size 12’s pretending for us. (BTW: I’m a size 20, I was an 18 in this photo)

Shit, broken link. Here

When you’re 20, your appearance is what God gave you.
At 40 you’ve got the looks that you’ve earned.

- don't know whose, not mine

Appearance and appeal are so fascinating - how some people look like “hot flings” and others have “great spouse” written all over them. Both get pigeonholed. And some boys take a loooonnng time to grow up.

I draw a lot of nudes so I’ve seen more naked women than most & I’m here to tell you - we’re all beautiful. I think most men figure that out, sometimes not until their 30s, though. The ones who never get it are such jackasses no one but bubbleheads will talk to them anyway.

Gene Simmons is cool.

Hey morrigoon, I have to say you look much better at an 18 than I did  How tall are you, you look positivly size 12

5’7" But I have a lot of muscle under all that fat. Thanks for the compliments, but I swear to you that I haven’t crammed myself into a size 12 since I was a jr. in high school!

Point is, 12 is not plus size, and fat women can be attractive too.

see thats my problem, i need to stop trying to lose weight, and i need to grow instead

Well, gotta disagree on the 12…to be a ‘plus size’ model you gotta be bigger than regular models 2-6 (and 6 is BIG for them now). A 12 is bigger than a 6. And Indyy to clarify the original pics of her were at her lower weight not at size 12. I know you indicated that but I wasn’t sure if it was clear…cause idiot me was confused

As for Josh, he’ll get what he deserves

Yeah, but if they’re modeling clothes marketed toward the 14+ crowd, they damn well OUGHT to be wearing those sizes. Fuck size 12 “plus-size” models! You can’t buy the stuff in 12, it shouldn’t be modeled in 12!

Let’s turn the tables a little bit, and imagine that this letter was written.

I bet such a letter wouldn’t get a tenth of the outcry that the letter bashing overweight women does, even though it’s just as bad.

BTW, I’m 5’10". I’m not a short male. I’m also not defending our fatophobe here … just pointing something out.

Well first off, it’s not all men. And ‘society’ doesn’t consider Carre Otis a plus size. Most, if not all, men are unaware of the intricisies of fashion sizing for women. Those that are aware are evil henchman for the industry that tries to tell us that plain, skinny 13 yr old girls are what is beautiful.

Second, I’m getting the impression that several people here think only males can be shallow and judgemental in regards to another’s personal appearence.

Say it isn’t so.

Hell, Joan Rivers saying that Kate Winslet sank Titanic because she was so fat during the Oscars.

Yeah, sure.
