In this earlier thread I described how the Chicago Police hauled away 9 carloads of guns from my dead uncle Bud’s home when his body was discovered, according to one of his neighbors. Since then another neighbor told my cousin it was “several carloads”. My cousin finally got a copy of the police report. It said they took 3 guns out of his house. My cousin found what she called “current licenses” for more than 30 guns. Clue me in here… what might this mean? Does a Chicago resident have to have some kind of permit for each separate weapon?
In this thread just about a month ago, I described my aunt Agnes’s death, and how I left immediately threreafter because I was so angry about how the family handled it.
I’m glad I left. My sister told me later that another of my aunts and her daughter went through my dead aunt’s home that same night, and cleaned out the jewelry, after an invitation from my uncle Joe (the widower) to look around and “see if there was anything they wanted.” Apparently they even took his wedding ring, and grumbled quite a lot about reurning it the next week.
Uncle Joe, meanwhile, is looting his wife’s estate. They’d both been married previously, had children from the past marriages and none of their own, and her will keeps her money and property in her family. But Joe is the executor, of her will and he’s simply liquidating everything and keeping it. There is also some property in a trust that he controls, and he has already managed to trasfer the title to his son, though it was supposed to go to her son.
Cousin Debbie, daughter of the greedy aunt mentioned above, was the alternate executor, and aunt Agnes put her name on a savings account with about 10 K in it. This was so she could have some readily availble money to handle estate issues should she have been needed as executor, in other words, if Uncle Joe had died first. Debbie cleaned out that account before she even knew Joe was grabbing all the money from other sources.
Personally, I wasn’t in line for any of this money. Actually, that’'s not true. Had uncle Bud’s weapons sold off sold off legally, I would get some small cut.
But crikies, I am completely disgusted by my family.
Maybe somebidy else in the family will sue uncle Joe. That would certainly make things brighter.
