Survivor 11/20

I knew the minute they showed Rup getting all ego-tastic in the beginning that he was toast. Jon will never get voted off because everyone knows he can’t win it all.
That thing with the snake and the lizard was disgusting.

I think the last two immunity challenges were very unfair. The contestants are not really in control of their own destiny in these challenges. As Rupert said, he was the best dart blower but he didn’t even have a chance to win. This type of challenge is not about who’s best–it’s about who the other contestants want to keep immunity away from.

And why the hell did Sandra vote for Jon if she was in an alliance with Rupert and Christa, both of whom voted for Darrah? Not that it mattered since there were 5 votes against Rupert, but if Lil had voted with them against Darrah, then Sandra voting for Jon instead of Darrah would have been HUGE! Hmmm… either Sandra is really stupid (possible) or she did that on purpose so that Rupert would be gone no matter what.

Which makes me wonder… Maybe Jon and Sandra–who appear to totally hate each other–are really in alliance together. Could that be the “Big Lie” that we’ve heard about?

After the last 2 weeks, Rupert act has gotten old. The look on useless, talentless, knife in the back Sandra’s face made it worth it.

I’ve missed a LOT and haven’t been reading recaps but seriously, why wouldn’t Sandra be voting Darrah this week?

I noticed that Rupert said “my island” again this episoide. That’s why I wasn’t so upset when he got voted off.

THe look on Sandra’s face was priceless. Why the hell did she vote for Jon??? Who knows what goes on that they don’t show us though.

I’m a somewhat new Survivor watcher, but from what I’ve seen, the “best” (as in strongest) never wins. It’s the sneakiest and the most self-preserving. Being a dominant physical presence ensures that you will be booted off as a threat sooner or later.

I loathe those type of challenges, Rupert might have had a chance to do a Colby if the challenge had been about individual skill.

Rupert had it comming, his arrogance annoyed me. If he was on the previous Survivor he wouldn’t have been anything special.

They hinted that maybe Jon had a family member die or some other tradgedy, this may change his whole snake-attitude.

The blowgun challenge was about skill. Rupert strategized badly, though – he should’ve taken out Burton, not Darrah, because Darrah obviously was no threat in the challenge and Burton obviously was. And Burton had already demonstrated that he wasn’t living up to his agreements with Rupert.

I liked Rupert a lot – he was my favorite player, and I wanted him to win. But I didn’t really expect him to.

Who to root for now, though? I also like Christa, but I don’t see her lasting much longer. I like Burton, but I don’t like the idea of an Outcast actually winning. Jon amuses me, but not enough for me to want him to win. Lill annoys the crap out of me, Tijuana and Darrah don’t show much initiative, and Sandra’s got the Christa problem, plus I’m not as wild about her. Hmmm.

Ditto.

That twist sucked the life out of this game for me. People who were outlasted, outwitted and outplayed have no business being allowed back.

Ditto also about these “pick who you want to win” immunity challenges, as opposed to the ones where you have to play your ass off to win and actually earn victory.

I hope the rest of these scumbags all starve for the duration of the game. It would serve them right.

This will be my last season of Survivor, too.

Why’d Peachy read the last vote? At 4-2-1, Rupert’s goose was cooked. The last vote should have remained secret.

As for Sandra voting for Jon, either it was a miscommunication or it was her sneaky way of booting Rupert without voting for him.

I’m going to make a bold prediction.
The previews make it look like someone close to Jon dies during the next episode. Could this be the BIG LIE that we have heard about before?

Could Jon have told his family to tell the show that someone had died during filming, so Jon could then play the game in memory of his beloved family member? As much as everyone hates Jon, it would proabably get him a lot of sympathy.

So far, that doesn’t seem too out of character for Jon.
As much as I hate to say it, if he pulls that off then he deserves to win. Remember Outwit, Outplay, Outlast.

I loved Rupe, but his exit speech was pathetic: “so much for my dreams”. Well, jeez, cry me a river – how many people have been voted off who were not you who had dreams about the $1M prize? Show some class, Rupe, don’t whine on the way out.

I agree. I hate those challenges because they have nothing to do with skill since multiple players can gang up on whoever they consider a threat.

What’s with all the Rupert hating? Do any of you honestly think his “My island, my adventure” comments were worse than the behavior of Jon or Burton? Rupe’s exit speech made me sad. I hope he saw how much people liked him when he returned from Panama.

I have little reason to watch now because as usual, I’ll be disgusted by the winner. I’d like to see Christa or Sandra win, but I see Tijuana, Lil and Darrah picking Burton and Jon off and then Darrah or Tijuana winning. Hell, any one of those three winning will make me vomit.

And I really hated the snake eating the iguana tonight. It was disgusting and tasteless and there was no need to show it. I realize the snake was supposed to represent the lies of the game, but the game speaks for itself. I bet the network will get a lot of flack over it.

Because Rupert was depicted as a virtuous fellow. The expected standard was he was inherently good. Any deviation, especially for the ‘worse’, gets magnified and analyzed because people think that it’s a brief glimpse into his true self and the rest was a complete lie. It’s the reverse of a bastard-who-deep-down-has-a-heart-of-gold.

Didn’t see anything wrong with the snake, maybe I watch too much discovery to be unsettled by a reptile’s one a week feeding. Then again Lill’s self loathing and conflict over playing the game vs her moral code was very entertaining to me. It’s that kind of turmoil that really grabs my attention and is a mighty fine price to pay in the desire to win.

Anyone get the feeling Rupert will embarrass himself at the final vote? I get the feeling he’s going to brood and sulk over his eviction.

They won’t get any flack over it. It’s just nature at work. Did you expect to see pink bunny rabbits kissing?

Sad to see Rupert go. He was a hell of a player, but he let the reigns slip this week and it cost him everything. Knowing what he did, he should have worked harder. His decision to rely of Lill’s loyalty without any further action taken was foolish; he should have been playing to her loyalty by reminding her that Darrah and Tijuana had voted against her and Jon and Burton had both stabbed people in the back. Lill is the type who would be swayed by those arguments. Second, his decision to settle for the chance of a 4-4 tie was wrong; he should have worked on recruiting Darrah or Tijuana for either a 5th winning vote or a secure 4th vote if Lill turned. Third, assuming Sandra’s vote wasn’t a last minute backstab (and considering her position it appears almost impossible) then it indicated a mind-boggling lack of planning on the part of the alliance.

Not that anyone else was winning MVP this week. Burton did manage to secure his new alliance and oust his biggest rival, but he made several bone-headed moves along the way. Why promise the reward to Rupert if he knew he wouldn’t follow through? Having made the promise, the smartest thing to have done would have been to throw the contest and avoid having to renege. Instead Burton put a lot of effort into alerting Rupert about his deceit without even getting a meal out of it. And sending someone as devious as Jon out of his sight with another player was a stupid follow through. Jon should never be allowed out of hearing range.

And, yes, Mark Burnett we all understood the snake metaphor. Thanks for the graphic.

That snake-eating-lizard thing was amazing! I have to think the snake will be basically immobile and helpless for days or weeks while that thing digests inside it. Plus, where are its internal organs, and how can they tolerate being nudged aside by such a big meal passing through the system?

I for one will be quite happy to see Darrah win, if that’s the way it goes. That means I’ll see her every single week of this season, and I love her.

There, I said it: I’m in love with Darrah.

Gah. I had Rupert in our Survivor Pool, and now I have no chance of winning the money.

My wife has Darrah, though, so she stands a good chance. I think the show never shows Darrah doing anything because they want the viewers to “forget” about her. She’s never even on camera (well, hardly).

When she speaks, I could use subtitles. That’s one heavy drawl she’s got.

Actually it was very smart. Lill doesn’t stand up to any sort of pressure very well and having Jon with her is alot safer then allowing Rupert the chance to turn Lill and reveal their plans. Allowing Rupert an extended brainwashing session with the weak-willed Lill would have been very stupid. The big issue was Lill’s stupid insistance of keeping the reward she did not earn. Burton had to tow her slow useless whiney butt around the course. She got plenty of food and rest when she took the first walk down loser’s lane- she should have passed it to Sandra and then Rupert could have got his from Burton. But Lill’s shortsighted greed and untrustworthiness under pressure prevented that.

Rupert lost it at least 3 episodes ago. By voting out Shawn rather then Jon because he made fun of his dress he sealed his own fate. Rupert was all editing to be the hero early on. Except eventually his true personality couldn’t be hidden. We saw it the last 3-4 shows and we really saw it in his stunningly bad exit whine. Even my wife, who was a real Rupert fan, was repulsed by his behavior. Good Riddence.

Next week should reveal more of the true nature of Sandra.

Burton has a good shot at winning it all- assuming Jon isn’t going anywhere. As long as they control Lill they should be able to run the table for a couple of weeks.

Rupert- good riddence. Use your appearance money to get some counseling.
