Survivor 11/26

Well, that was a very interesting TC! Avoiding spoilers for now, just noting the irony of the whole thing was amusing as hell.

I can’t remember the last time I had no idea what was going to happen going into and during Tribal Council. I’m glad to see that they are playing the game hard now, because they sure weren’t earlier.

I love that the two guys on the jury, the gay New York dancer and the buff Boston firefighter are best buds now.

Alec is an idiot, comparing himself to Jesus.

And why did Natalie tell Jon to play his idol, didn’t she want him gone?

Yeah, that surprised me too. Natalie officially and decisively cast her lot with Jon & Jaclyn and Missy & Baylor.

It makes sense, though, since Natalie’s closest ally right now is Baylor. In for a penny, in for a pound, solidify yourself as the 5th in that tight two-couple alliance. Thinking it through, that puts her in great shape to make it to final 3 and win it all:

If all goes to plan and they make it to final five, it’s Missy & Baylor vs Jon & Jaclyn, with both couples courting Natalie for the tiebreaker vote. Natalie chooses Baylor’s couple, of course, and they get rid of Jon & Jaclyn. Now at final tribal Missy & Baylor (who aren’t super popular to begin with) split any support between them, leaving Natalie to collect all the “not Missy & Baylor” votes to win it all.

That makes sense, Ellis Dee.

Also, by getting Jon to play on HII, it put the pressure on Keith to play his – leaving Natalie (and Baylor) controlling the only one still in reserve.

I was shocked to see Wes was voted out. Usually the person voted out has some Talking Heads during the last two shows. He wasn’t even shown while he was at Exile Island. (of course I might have missed something)

No, he wasn’t – just that one shot of him riding away on the boat.

Didn’t get enough from 58 chicken nuggets and naked Jeff Probst discussion?

If Keith had just kept his mouth shut, not uttering that “Stick to the plan” to Reed, it WOULD have been Jon gone instead of Wes. He basically sent his son to Ponderosa.

What is the subject here?

That never occurred to me, and is pretty clever.

It was the original post of the thread that I started that was merged into this one. I was trying to avoid spoilers, but I was talking about the irony of Keith basically having set that little chain reaction in TC off and eventually leading to Wes’s going to Ponderosa. If Keith hadn’t told Reed to stick to the plan, it probably would have been Jon going home instead of Wes.

Also, Wes and Keith didn’t have to play their idol. Once Jon played his, then one of them was going home anyway. Should have kept it for the next tribal.

Assuming Keith didn’t play the HII, Could he have passed it to Wes AFTER he was voted out of the game.

Is it allowed in the rules?

I have read (maybe it was on these boards) that it is a bad idea to ask Probst if “Doing X” is allowed. It is better to go ahead and do it than ask if they can do it.

I guess it is a corollary of “easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.”

You have to play your Immunity Idol before the votes are announced.

I realized that. I am asking if Keith had not played his HII and he was voted out, could he have given it to Wes as he getting up and on his way to get his torch snuffed.

Is passing the idol taboo after you are voted out?

Wes would have still been in the game…and with an idol.

I believe that would be against the rules. Jeff always makes a point of saying “Once the votes are read, the person voted out has to leave the Tribal Council area immediately.” I always interpreted that to mean that your participation in the game stops as of that moment, and you can’t do anything other than grab your stuff and go.

Wes had the idol in his bag. If Keith got voted out without playing it, could Wes just keep it?

I think so. The rule is that the idol can’t be stolen from you, but you can give it away.

It appeared that Wes and Keith were holding the idol jointly. Players in previous seasons have made agreements to share an idol, so there’s precedence for that. I think Wes would have a claim to sole ownership in the scenario you describe.
