Nope, best line of the show: “Jon… he’s just like a girl.”
Hmm…Dopers sure seem to be losing interest in Survivor lately. A lot of people here soured on Rupert during his last days, especially following his exit speech, but while he was on the show, any Survivor thread would be at least two pages long by now.
I’m bummed about Christa getting booted tonight and it’s really beginning to look like Burton will win everything. The girls may have blown their chance to get rid of him and now he may win the remaining immunity challenges and take Jon with him to the final two. What a waste, not to mention a very anti-climactic ending to a Survivor that started spectacularly. Then again, in this game, anything can happen–and it often does.
BTW, anyone checking the popularity ratings at CBS’s Survivor site? This Survivor edition has brought record highs and lows in popularity. Rupert’s 93% rating is the highest ever (Christy from Amazon was very briefly at 90.3 before dipping back into the eighties) and Jon was at 19%, the first to ever fall below 20 (Australia’s Jerri was the previous lowest at 21%). I’m just amazed Jon’s even that high!
I’m surprised Jerri’s likeability/popularity percentage was that high. I hated the bitch and literally did the happy dance when she was voted off.
The best line was when Lil said something like “you’re more smarter than me” to Jon because he knew what Bruschetta was (Italian toasted bread with tomatoes and cheese on top just in case you care). I can’t stand looking at that Sourpus anymore, arg! And Darrah - has she had an interview with the camera the entire season? I’ve only heard her mumble from time to time. Very odd.
Rainbowthief I too see the loss of interest, I stopped watching religiously once Rupert was voted off - not because he lost, but because he lost to the damn Outcasts. Bringing back Burton and Lil ruined this Survivor for me - they were voted off, keep them off! I wonder how the game would have gone if they merged when both teams had 5 (w/o the Outcasts). Heck I wonder how things would have gone if Drake hadn’t thrown the water wrestling Immunity Challenge a few months ago - we all knew that might come back to bite them in the butt.
I was glad Christa got the boot. She and Sandra both deserved it for being stupid enough to trust Jon last week and turn on their last chance alliance with Darrah and T.
They truly believed Jon would turn on Burton this week and vote with them … Duh. Recall this was the TC immediately after Jon had just turned on them & Rupert the week before … and yet, this had me nearly screaming at the TV, and yet they seemed in interviews to 1/2-way trust him going into this tribal council: Christa being “surprised” she went (tho it may have been more belief in Burton for her).
Shj^t, those women are clueless – and mean even to each other. I’m glad they showed their true colors – here’s a bet at the final they make speeches boo-hooing about Liars, being lied to and “playing the game honestly”.
Prediction:
If Jon wants to win the million he has to Final 2 against someone he thinks he can beat. Out of the remaining survivors, I think Sandra might be the only one that Jon could beat. I also think Jon is the only one Sandra could beat. Jon has to communicate this scenario Sandra and create an alliance. They might make it to the Final 2 together.
I pretty much despise Jon as much as most people do, but begrudgingly, I’m beginning to give him some respect. I don’t like him, but he certainly is skilled at lying, scheming, and conniving. Traits that don’t endear him to anyone, but they’re valuable in this game.
It’s a bit refreshing in a way that he’s upfront in his confessionals about his deviousness. Most other players through the seasons, when talking about their philosophical approach to the game, talk about their honesty and trustworthiness.
I find it interesting that if he were halfway likeable, he might not have gotten this far.
Burton is in trouble with Lil because he can’t misleadingly lie through his teeth like Jon.
If Jon makes it to the final two, I wonder if the jury would punish him for his duplicity, or like me, come to give him begrudging respect for it.
Okay, it doesn’t make me Nostrodamus or anything, but at least I finally got one right.
Sandra is the odd one out; I predict she’s gone next week. Darrah and Lill both think they’re in the final three with Burton & Jon.
Obviously, any of the other three would want to take Jon into the finals. Jon’s best chance to win would be to go up against one of the Outcasts, hoping that the jury wouldn’t vote for someone who had already been voted out once. I don’t know if he would be better off going up against Burton or Lill. Actually, I agree with Jamlad that his best chance would be against Sandra, but I don’t think it’s crossed his mind to keep her around.
Jon is a scumbag of the lowest degree, but I’ll grant that he’s playing the hell out of the game. But he’s doing it in the scummiest way possible, so if that’s his goal, he’s succeeding.
I mean, yeah, lying and conniving and scheming are part of the game, but you don’t have to go as far as he did, do you?
If he wins this I am never ever ever ever watching Survivor again.
Hmmm. I didn’t think of this. Makes some sense.
Who to take of the Outcasts? Based on comments made at TC, Lil is well liked, though I think most everyone recognizes her cluelessness. She’s just riding coattails. Burton may be less likeable, but the jury might see him as deserving the money for surviving so well after coming back “from the dead”.
If I were Jon, I’d take Lil into the final two. He’d be effective in convincing the jury that he was more deserving than Lil to win the million.
Well, we don’t really know if he’s a scumbag in real life. His personality is grating (to me at least), but he might be quite honest, loyal, and trustworthy outside the game.
His behavior he’s displayed in the game would certainly be labeled as “scumbaggish” if this behavior were exhibited in real life. But in the context of the game? I’m not so sure.
(Sheesh. I can’t believe I’m sort of defending the guy.)
I was a staunch defender of Darrah until last night. People thought she was dumb because of her accent and because she doesn’t speak much, but those are bad reasons.
Here’s a good reason, though: She seems to believe Jon when he says he’ll take her to the final two with him. Dumb, dumb, dumb!
It’s really looking like the predictions from week’s back as to the final 2 and ultimate survivor have excellent chances of being true. In fact, two strong alternatives work in their favor, instead of any other result. Wonder if this signals a break in security of MB’s empire?
Jon is a total shit, but you have to admit that he is playing this game better than anyone else left.
Has any contestant ever gotten as far as Lill while being so undeserving? This lady is dumb as a post, asking people to lead her along, and then falling into childish fits of pique. Yet everyone says she is so “nice” and everyone “loves her.” Yuck.
What irks me is that Jon is going to milk his undead grandmother (and isn’t that an image to have nightmares to?) as long as he can. He did it tonight and the previews showed him swearing on his grandmother’s grave about something again next week!
I agree. And I don’t think the “more smarter” thing was tongue-in-cheek, either.
And Jon thinking he was such a gourmand by ordering for them, and for knowing what bruschetta is? Please…
They both annoy me.
And I wish Lil would cut her pants off. Then she wouldn’t have to compete in challenges in her panties. I can’t for the life of me figure out why she doesn’t do that.
I can’t believe that crap about everyone “loving” Lil. She bugs the shit outta me. She pulls those sourpuss faces like a petulant five-year-old.
I think the Lil and Darrah made Jon sleep on the sofa. It showed him waking up with a pillow and blanket there. That bed was plenty big for all three of them.
Do you think Christa and Sandra would have made Burton sleep on the sofa? (I sure wouldn’t have! )
This has to be the dumbest group of final survivors in a long time. If they had faced the harsh conditions of previous shows half of them would be dead.
Vote off Christa over Sandra. Idiots.
Rupert needs to grow the hell up. Sitting in the jury making childish faces is just confiming the impression given by his pathetic exit speech and last ywo weeks behavior. Want to learn how to act- watch Ryno.
I’m tired of watching some rube from the hicks travel on someone else’s dime. She doesn’t deserve it it.
Has she been apart of every reward?
And her husband… tee hee
Jon cracks me up. When he’s explaining in his reveal about how he swore on his grandmothers grave that he wasn’t lying to another contestant… and he burst out laughing?
Friggen hilarious. I really hope he wins. He’s playing the hell out of these people.
And that’s the damn game! Everyone around him are talking about friends, trust, and honesty.
BS.
It’s not about that. It’s about self preservation and getting yourself to the end. Whatever it takes, you do it. You win.
What’s he do again?
Because he’d make a hell of a businessman.
I love Rupert. To death. Seriously. I almost cried when he got booted.
But even I remarked to supervenusfreak last night that Rupert still looks pissed. It’s been two weeks, man! Chill. Out. Relax and enjoy the amenities at Loser Lodge. Enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you get to vote for the person who isn’t Jon at the end. Just relax, dammit!
Um…I’m an idiot. It hasn’t been two weeks for them. It’s been six days.
Oh, he does, he does.
And I was among those who really liked him, and at the same time, thought his parting remarks were incredibly childish and selfish.
I got sick of his “my dreams” and “my island” and “my adventure” comments. Hey, it’s not all there for you, pal. Fifteen other people went out there with the same intentions as you.
