Survivor 12-11; Winding down

What are your predictions tonight?

Some things I would like to see happen:

  1. I’d love for the “granny” lie to come out  I think it was a brilliant game strategy! It wasn’t something that I’d be able to do with a clear conscience, but you have to admit no one has ever sunk that low before.

  2. I’d love for Darrah to win all the rest of the immunities!

  3. I’d love for Burton to go tonight. The moron/pretty boy mix is wearing on my nerves.

  4. Ultimately, I’d love Darrah and Sandra to be the final two, with Jon three, and Lil (urk) fourth.

The only winner is the viewing public if Probst decides to keelhaul the whole crowd.

Burton and Lil would be horrible winners because they already lost. The stupid twist bringing back former players sucks. It essentially rewards bad players by giving them a second shot while good players are penalized.

Darrah would be a horrible winner. She would actually be worse than some evil cloned offspring of Vecepia and Jenna (Jenepia?). She does nothing, says nothing, and offers no signs of tactical game play. And don’t tell me flying under the radar is tactical game play. She’s so far under the radar that she is choking on sand at the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

Jon would be a horrible winner. I can respect evil and underhanded playing and making yourself keepable by being distasteful. That said, lying about the death of a loved one crosses that line for me.

Leaving us with Sandra as the least distasteful person left. At this point that’s like choosing death by a series of harder punches to the groin as opposed to death by having your skin taken off by a carrot peeler.

Jeff Probst has stated in interviews that the Big Lie remained unknown to the other players until the night it aired. The other contestants will not find out before the votes are cast.

The reunion show, on the other hand, will probably require bodyguards for Jon…and Sandra being put through international-flight-level security before getting onstage.

It feels a little unfair if one of the outcasts win… but that said, Burton is the only one left I find remotely likeable. Well, maybe Lill, but I don’t think she has played well.

Sandra is a bully. Jon is a royal jerk, and way too full of himself… but he’s played a pretty good game. I don’t dislike Darrah, but she hasn’t done anything strategic except win the last two immunities.

The previews for tonight suggest that the women might band together against the men. Therefore, I’m confident that won’t happen. I’d bet that Sandra will be gone tonight and no one will miss her.

Then on Sunday, Darrah will go first - none of the others will want to face her in the finals, and she is a legitimate immunity threat. Think about it – any of the other three could lose to her in front of the jury: Burton and Lill because they were already voted out, and Jon because she has been way more likeable.

Depending on who wins the final immunity, here is who I think they will pick:

Burton – no advantage to facing Lill; he’d pick Jon who has alienated plenty of the jury members.

Lill – She’d be better off with Jon for the same reason as Burton; but she’s just as likely to pick Burton out of Outcast loyalty.

Jon – Needs to go against an outcast to have a chance to win. Lill is probably the better choice b/c she has not played the game as well as Burton.

If Darrah wins immunity to make the F3, and then again to make the F2, she would have the best chance against Lill. But I think she would also have a decent chance against the other two (especially since that would be a string of 4 consecutive IC wins).

And I hate, hate, hate myself for saying this: I think Jon is going to win it all.

People keep complaining that Darrah hasn’t done anything strategic, but so what? The show’s called Survivor, not Strategizer. And nobody can claim that she’s been coattailing like Lil has. She’s rolled with each turn of events and kept a low profile without being remotely irritating or self-aggrandizing (unless, of course, you’ve got a thin skin about thick accents). She’s on the ropes (as the remaining Morgan) but has taken more individual immunities that almost anyone.

I say go Darrah!

I kind of liked the Outcast twist, but I agree, I don’t want to see either Lil (I can’t freaking stand her!) or Burton win. I’d rather see Burton win it than Lil. I hate Lil.

Having said that, I hope the girls band together and get rid of Burton tonight. He’s too strong a threat in the immunities, and too likeable to take to the Final 2.
If any of them are thinking ahead, they’re going to want to take someone unlikeable to the Final 2 with them. I don’t see Jon standing a chance against anyone. Everyone hates him.

Do the ones on the Jury get to talk to each other at Loser’s Lodge? Do they hang out together all day?
Have they been comparing notes at all? If so, they’ll be able to figure out how much lying Jon has done.

I think Sandra is a bit of a shrew, in addition to bing a bully.
I can’t stand either Jon or Lil.

Out of everyone left, I’d be okay with either Burton or Darrah winning. I kind of think Darrah will continue to slide right under the radar.

Maybe the girls will get rid of Burton or Jon tonight (sometimes the previews are right!), and then Sunday (remember the finale is this Sunday at 8:00!), when they’re down to four, the other guy will go.
The final three could be all women.

I acutally like Sandra. I like her smart assed, straightfoward, snarky, bitchy self.

I hope she wins.

I ditto that exactly!

Sadly, I have no confidence that she’ll be able to pull this off. Darrah is too stupid to get the fact that her supposed alliance with Burton and Jon is worthless. And Lil will never go against them out of her ill-placed boy scout loyalty.

Of course it all depends on who gets immunity tonight, but I don’t see it being Sandra.

Darn my husband for making me watch the end of this. And of course, he darns me as well, for having gotten him hooked on it in the first place.

<grumble, grumble>

For me Darrah winning is the only remaining palatable outcome.

But I think it will be one of the boys, unless Darrah manages a Colby run.

All I have to say is, that if, as in seasons past, it comes down to a final three of all women, and the final immunity is blown because one of the women points out that someone’s boob is hanging out, please god, PLEASE don’t let it be Lill’s boob.

When did that happen? (This is the first Survivor I’ve seen since Australia)

Survivor: Marquesas, Episode 13, when it was down to Vecepia, Neleh & Kathy. After 4 hours standing on tree stumps, leaning over with one hand on a totem pole, Neleh distracted Kathy by pointing out that her shirt was hanging forward in such a way that a breast was exposed. Who cares that they’d’ve never shown it on TV, Kathy fell for the bait and in an effort to adjust her shirt, lost her balance and fell off. Just another season where the person who worked the hardest to win got screwed.

Shouldn’t tonight’s Immunity Challenge be the one based on answering personal questions about the former/other teammates? Have they done that one recently?
Or will it be the first IC on Sunday’s show?

I think Darrah could swing that one easily. She seems like the type to shut up and listen, whereas the some of the others (Jon and Sandra) are the types to just blather on and on, and not really listen to what anyone else is saying.

It’s been quite a while since they did one of those “fallen comrades” quizzes. Not since S4, I think, which was already filming when they realized that they’d incorrectly screwed S3’s Lex out of an immunity win when he gave a correct answer they didn’t realize was correct. Instead, they’ve done variations on the theme, such as last year’s challenge where they had to predict who the tribe would say is smartest, funniest, etc.

Taking Jon with him for the reward was the worst choice Burton could have made. Remains to be seen if the ladies make the most of it.

I feel certain now that one of the boys will go down tonight. The producers wouldn’t be playing up the hubris angle so strongly otherwise.

Colby Run for Darrah!

ArchiveGuy, I hope you don’t pit me for this or a moderator doesn’t ban me for this, but that. is. a. crock. And I’m not really directing this solely to you, but to everyone who says, "it’s not [whatever, blah, blah, blah] it’s, Survivor - Outlasted! [blah, blah, blah]

If this were really a last-person-standing survivor instead of milque-toast lilly liver pussy ass I could beat you if we were at the office & I could spread nasty gossip about you or if we were in my parent’s basement & I could woop your ass at trivial pursuit and/or my latest Xbox game Survivor then sure, so-and-so would win.

Otherwise, Burton is God. And I am not persuaded by that furry chisled waist tan line that keeps dropping centimeter by centimeter, week by week. I’m not!

This show definitely isn’t portraying men very well.

During Tribal Council, who else saw that look Jeff shot Jon after the vote? That was wonderful.
