Survivor 12/6

It was Courtney-Dad that said the “I’m English, I don’t do shorts” line. I took it as self deprecating humor at the time, now I’m not sure. It was said in response to Probst commenting that Courtney-Dad looked “dapper”.

The khaki and cotton shirt combo wasn’t all that different from what Probst wears on the show, though Jeff would wear short sleeves, where Courtney-Dad had rolled up his. I couldn’t tell if Dad was wearing practical shoes. I’d guess the man has an intense aversion to looking foolish, which is guaranteed if you participate in a challenge.

I don’t see it going this way. Passive players haven’t won since Amber in All-Stars, and she only won by one vote against possibly the most hated player in Survivor history. The juries lately have made a point of pointing out the player who did the least ammount of “playing”, and it hasn’t gone well for them. I think most people would vote for a schemer over a coattail rider even if the schemer was the reason they lost.

I also don’t see a jury giving the million to someone who might need it more, unless the other players were already financially set (like an NFL quarterback).

Sandra was also extremely passive – she never made any power plays whatsoever; her only rule was, “I’ll vote for anyone as long as it’s not for me.” Passive players often do surprisingly well, especially if the folks the active players have screwed over are the most recent evictees, and are still all bitter and resentful.

Of course, with J-R and James in Losers Lodge, who knows how bitter and resentful the whole jury will end up being by the time it comes to a vote; I’m sure they’re busy poisoning everyone’s minds they can. Or at least trying.

For some reason, I love PG. If she makes it to the final 3, is there a hope in hell that having outwitted, outplayed, and outlasted enough to get there that she could actually win?

I really think, if she does go to Final 3, that she could win it. Nobody HATES PG. She’s annoying, but it’s not like she’s been able to orchestrate any ousters herself, or even have any significant role in any. No one has a grudge against her (except James, for the immunity throw way back), and at least three members of the jury are her former tribemates. It really depends on who she ends up in the F3 with…Todd and Courtney, she’s in. Todd and Amanda or Courtney and Amanda, toss-up. Amanda and Denise, she has no chance.

Denise has no enemies. Amanda has no enemies (since she’s been a very low-key mastermind, unlike TODD I HAVE TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS HOW MUCH OF A PLAYER I AM). Todd and Courtney, on the other hand, I doubt can pull off a win against anyone.

You know, I don’t get the PG dislike in the threads this go-round; she seems okay, and not a jerk like J-R, for example. I admit that PG scowls quite a bit, and doesn’t do much to make herself likeable, but this stuff is heavily edited, so who knows if we’re seeing the whole picture. She’s also won her share of challenges, so she’s a good competitor. It reminds me a little of the dislike for Shii Anne in S5/Allstars, which I also didn’t get – is it an “Asian women are annoying” thing (no unkind assumptions about other posters implied)?

I hate PG (for example) because when James was sincerely trying to win challenges, she had decided to throw them. Then, she gets all indignant at James when they lose challenges and blames him for losing. She’s an ass.

OK, point taken, Shawn – she was being a jerk at that point. But there was also an existing PG-dislike in the threads by then, IIRC. Maybe I’m wrong.

Originally, I didn’t hate PG. She did seem a little bossy and in danger of being voted off early for trying too hard. But then she did a somewhat smart thing and backed off a little and let the former model guy try too hard. See where it got him, eh? Anyway… I didn’t like her much either. But after the throwing of the challenges and being pissed at James, I just constantly see her as indignant and that it’s always everyone else’s fault.

The juries find reasons to carp at every F2/F3 player. Scheming too much. Not scheming enough. Riding coattails. Leading alliances. Betraying tribe members. Sticking to tribal lines.

If they want to find a reason to be bitter, they’ll find one.
