Survivor 36: Ghost Island premieres tonight

chuckle… He probably brought some seeds in his pocket and has started a small farm on the other side of the island.

LMAO!

I haven’t read the thread, so forgive me if this has been mentioned. But I have to mention it.

There’s that one guy who says he’s ‘suave’. Only, he pronounces it ‘swa-VEY’.

Like Ruco.

I’m glad Michael and Wendell are safe, but I’m sure going to miss Libby. She got off on the wrong foot with Kellyn and Desiree and they just could not get past wanting her out, even though they should have been thinking about much bigger fish to fry…

Angela swallowing that entire sea slug, holy shit. How was that even physically possible? Loved Wendell just going Nope to the whole challenge.

I honestly couldn’t tell if he was trying to be joking about it (like how some people will pronounce Target “tar-jey”, faux French-style) or actually thought the word was pronounced that way. But given how clueless Chris was about other things…

Glad to see the food challenge return. Impressive job by Angela.

That’s the Spanish pronunciation (“soft”). Or maybe he’s just trying to be funny.

I really wanted Malalo to make a move there. I think Laurel and Donathan didn’t want to target Wendell, but they should have tried to shift the target to Kellyn or Desiree.

We need to ask Linda Lovelace.

As I get older, I think I could do a gross food challenge more than I could when I was in my 20’s.

Wendell dominated the slingshot reward challenge, he was impressive. Laurel was also doing well until she got tired. When I saw the team draw, I thought the other team was going to win.

Most every time Sea-Bass shot the slingshot in the Reward Challenge, Probst would say that he is a “little high”

I am usually in favor of not telling anybody you have an idol. But in this case, had Michael told the other Malolos he was going to play his, it might have sold his blindside idea better. Certainly Libby would have gotten on board after learning about the split vote. A big missed opportunity for the original Malolos.

However, I’m kind of glad things worked out as they did. I’m liking Wendell more and more, and I’m rooting for him to win the whole thing now. I also like Michael and I’m glad he played his idol wisely. Not that sorry to see Libby go; she seemed to be always at least one step behind everybody else and never really had a strategic vision of her own. Even in her parting comments she seemed to have no idea why she was targeted.

I did enjoy the way Jeff paused as he said, “This is NOT…” cue hopeful looks from the Naviti alliance “…just a stick anymore.” Heh.

Speaking of which, I love when he builds suspense by reading all the “Does not count” votes first. Which would have been especially great if Chris had played his idol.

+1 on this whole post.

FWIW, in a previous behind the scenes interview, they said that if someone does play an idol, they take the votes back and reorder them so Probst reads them in the (new) order they want.

Yeah, that’s pretty obvious. The votes are always arranged in order to build the most suspense.

Wow. Des saved Michael’s ass. I give her some props for trying a bold move, but it just didn’t work out. Michael is a really good player, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the producers retread him at some point. And, corny as it might sound, I can see Donathan in a similar position partly because the game seems to have developed him as a person quite a bit.

My wife and I felt sad that Donathan didn’t get to play the reward challenge. He seems like the sort who has spent a lot of time not being picked in the schoolyard. I can relate.

Me too. I was hoping there would be an advantage left there for him. Of course he wound up with the idol, so it evens out.

If they bring back Ghost Island, I thought of an idea to make it better. Instead of making the losing team draw rocks, make it so the winning team draw rocks if they can’t come to a unanimous vote and whoever goes doesn’t get to participate in the reward.

I was a bit surprised that Laurel blabbed about Des’s plan. It seemed like it was actually a pretty good option for her to get out Kellyn (at least eventually), and going straight to Dom should have made it clear that there was a relationship there, which she has been trying to keep quiet. And she had to know that targeting Des would save Michael, which I’m not sure is very good for her game either. Surely she isn’t aiming for the final 4 Wendell was pitching - no way can she win that game.

There are quite a few sub-groups in the “big group” which actually makes things pretty interesting.

It looks like we have:

Wendell / Dom
Wendell / Laurel
Laurel / Donathan
Kellyn / Chelsea / Angela(?)

Michael should have been with Jenna, but doesn’t seem like he is.
Sebastian is, what, just doing whatever Dom tells him? Unclear - maybe he’s actually more loyal to Kellyn’s crew. And he has at least a friendship with Jenna, right?

Sebastian seems like he should be stronger than he is at challenges - I wonder if he’s intentionally flying a bit under the radar and/or playing up his obliviousness to avoid the target.

Could someone remind me what the “new final tribal format” that Jeff was talking about is?

It’s more of a freeform chat instead of the strict “one question per person.” Same thing they did the last two season, just that this time is the first time they’re aware of it.
