Survivor 36: Ghost Island premieres tonight

I thought Laurel blew up her game last night, she’s too timid and seems to be playing for third place. I also thought it would have been interesting to send who ever wasn’t picked for a team immediately go to Ghost Island; it might have injected another level of strategy.

I don’t know about that but they could have done one of those “clue hidden on the sit-out bench” things.

It is nice they now spare us and the contestants from having the picks done on screen like they did in the past

I don’t need to see all the picks, but I would at least like to know who the captains were. Probst could just say it when he announces who the teams are.

I like the idea of the clue on the bench. I always like when the idol is at the challenge.

Speaking of clues, remember when idols always came with clues? Now people just scour the forest near camp every couple of days.

I can’t believe Michael survived yet another tribal council. I’d love it if he won, but I’m guessing he’ll wind up like Malcolm and never make it to the end because he’s just too big a target. Hopefully he’ll stick around long enough to provide cover for Wendell so that he can sneak in for the win.

Ghost Island is a bust, just like all the other “themed” seasons. I wish they would start filming in locations besides Fiji again, because then they could drop the dumb themes and just have Survivor: Peru or Survivor: Madagascar instead.

Didn’t Wendell get a clue first?

I can’t remember, but clues just don’t seem that important anymore. Now, people just start looking under every rock and in every knothole, I miss the cheesy riddles.

But that’s just a consequence of the show having been on so long with childhood fans now playing the game. Everyone knows the idol has to be hidden reasonably close in a somewhat conspicuous place.

Well, they can put more clues in those places that lead to idols in much harder to find places (like under their shelter)

Yeah, I like when the idol is under the shelter, or part of the camp (like in China), or part at a challenge. I like watching the scheming and maneuvering to try and get it without attracting attention.

One of my favorite sequences was last year when the clue was hidden under the spaghetti followed by the massive scramble at the flag to get the idol.

That was a good one. Also, remember when Michaela was sitting out a challenge and there was an advantage under her seat that she missed?

+1

There are several players I would like to see again, including Des.

I like it.

Wait, what? I have been complaining for years about their not showing the picking process. I can’t even remember when they did.

Yeah, I thought Des’ plan was pretty good. They need to get Dom and Wendell out, because they are sure winners over the rest of the crew. And Wendell tends to be one of the better players at the challenges. That sling-shot thing he pulled off was impressive!!

Could Donathan win if he makes it to the final? I wouldn’t be too surprised.

Her plan was good, but the execution was off. She should have just approached Michael, the obvious next target instead of everyone at once. There was too much of a chance that someone would talk.

Good point.

I have to give credit to Dalton Ross for that point.

Ahhh. Yeah, I don’t usually read him, but I probably should as I know he has long had an insider take on the show.

Her thinking was right, she knew who to target to try and advance her game, but it all fell to pieces because of the way she handled the situation with Laurel. Her behavior sent up too many red flags.

I think the other issue is she named too many targets. I think if she had just said “Let’s blindside Kellyn” it would have happened. But then she added on Wendell and Dom as well.

At this point, I think if either Dom or Kellyn make it to the final 3, they win. Out of everyone else, I don’t really know.
