Another hilarious ending to a TC. Not sad to see Natalie gone, though she might’ve been good for some fireworks later on. She kept defending her jacket talk as “I’m in sales and I was trying to make a deal” but I think she went about it completely the wrong way. She definitely went about it in a bullying manner.
Weird that Natalie thought Angelina might have voted her out. Who did she think the one other vote in her corner came from? I guess Angelina should have explicitly said she wasn’t part of the blindside, but I can understand her thinking that was obvious.
I always wonder what these people who come across to us as horrible think when they watch the show. Do they see what we do, and maybe try to change? Or do they see how they behaved as proper and acceptable? Or do they convince themselves that the horrible stuff is the fault of the editors, all taken out of context or something?
I’ve got mixed feelings about Angelina and the jacket. In a way I sympathize with her, because I also seem to be the first in any group to feel cold. OTOH, if she knew that about herself, why didn’t she BRING A JACKET with her??
Angelina knew the vote was going against Natalie. She gave Natalie a pity vote in order to get her jacket.
It was funny to see Christian “tag-out” with John Hennigan in the snake maze (skill based) part of the Immunity Challenge.
The producers have a say in what clothing the players wear. IMO, watching people suffer with the cold and rain is not compelling television. IMO, the contestants should be given appropriate clothing for their adventure.
The best parts of that, to me, were that (a) John was fine with it and (b) Christian then won the challenge.
How many times have we seen the “strong guy won’t give up his spot even if he struggles” play (heck, we saw it with the slingshot part of the earlier challenge in this very episode). And then when he took over I was worried we were going to see the “oh, see, he’s not really part of the strong guys club, he’s just a weak nerd” story line.
Knowing that Angelina was in on the decision to vote out Natalie and was just playing for her jacket makes me more OK with Natalie not giving it to her (besides it just being funny…)
My thoughts exactly, though for some reason I didn’t have these thoughts until this episode.
The key advantage of the nullifier is that when numbers are close, you don’t have to worry about an idol sending one of your own home. And if it’s not close, you don’t have to worry about splitting the votes.
I’m wondering what happens if you have two idols. Play one, it gets nullified, play the second and you’re safe?
Aha, I hadn’t thought of it in those terms. So it really can be (and is best) used for the benefit of a whole majority alliance, without having to guess like you do when you are a minority alliance using a HII. Interesting!
I’ve been wondering this about this season… some of them look RIDICULOUSLY underdressed. One woman showed up in a mini-dress, several of them just have very light shirts. A couple have hats with them, but very few are wearing the kind of clothes you’d want to be stranded in. I realize they tell them what colors to wear, and sometimes even require certain articles of clothing, but sometimes they surprise them with the show starting. One season they said they were going to a photo shoot on a boat, and several guys were in Armani suits and a couple women were in cocktail dresses (and one of them wasn’t wearing underwear…). That was Rupert’s first season, when they were given their running shoes once they got to land and he stole the other tribe’s dress shoes and traded them for supplies.
Glad to see Natalie go. What a piece of work. Frankly, I don’t care what she’s like in real life, or if she sees herself and feels embarrassed. I’m just happy she won’t be on my TV anymore.
Funny hoe “Goliath Strong” hasn’t held even once since the tribe switch.
This is the first time I recall that everyone was evacuated. Is that correct? Also do the days that they were off the islands, do they count in their total days in the game? I’m pretty sure they were still separated from the other tribes, or they told them to act surprised when they saw that what’s her name was voted off in the last tribal council.
True, but there are certain real world limitations when you’ve got to do an emergency evacuation. Especially when they’re only evacuating them a few miles to base camp, so they’re still being hit by the storm, they just have real buildings to ride it out in.
In this evacuation, Probst said “Our production team back at base camp had already set up temporary housing for each tribe. They stayed separated and slept in very basic units with no comfort. They might argue it was worse in some ways because what little control they had on their beach was taken away as they were under a “no talking” lock down.”
You would think still that they could find individual rooms for them (maybe have the camera operators and other crew double or triple up temporarily), but maybe I’m wrong.
Are sequestered jurors in major court trials allowed to have contact with each other during off hours? I know they are instructed not to discuss the case until jury deliberations, but that’s not what I’m asking. I guess I basically don’t trust people to follow those kinds of orders on the honor system.
If the penalty is that you piss off the producers and won’t be asked to come back as a returning player, you could limit how much people would be willing to risk breaking the rules.
