I was left pretty cold by this season after the first few episodes. And I really thought I’d watch to the end purely out of reflex.
Not after last night.
This is one of the all-time great seasons of Survivor. Coach is like Johnny Fairplay, Ami the Amazon and Corrine the Cunt (good one jayjay) all rolled into one. He is ridiculous, stupid and evil. That is quite the Survivor hat trick.
When Steven said, “I’ll show you MY wizard move,” or whatever he said, I thought it indicated that he was gonna oust Coach. Seriously left me bummed; I really liked Brendan, and liked him even more after the kind things he said about J.T. I always wonder what the people on the show think when they watch it air. Being that J.T. is a great guy, but not all that strategic, when he gets blindsided, he must cringe when he sees what words of praise Brendan bestowed upon him.
I don’t think of Coach being all that evil; frankly, I think you need to be a little smarter than that. What he is, is the most pretentious person in the history planet earth. I mean, really, can you imagine meeting with someone more pretentious? Is. Not. Possible.
But for the sake of the game, you just can’t look at this guy and trust him. Nobody that fringe can be trusted. Nobody who lives in such an alternative reality can be trusted. But Coach is freakin’ Mahatma Ghandi compared to Tyson in the trust department. Never, ever, EVER could I trust that guy (even if he is piss-your-pants funny). So given the choice of siding with two snakes or going with a guy you “had just a great 'ol time with,” I’ll take the guy I bonded with.
This might turn out to be J.T.'s fatal mistake. Hopefully the good guys will the boot to Coach & Tyson when they get numbers on them when it gets down to five or so. But yeah, Coach just might make it to the final three – even if they almost club him to death during the final Tribal Council.
The problem is it’s a lot easier to get people to turn against Coach than it is against Tyson. Taking out Coach first is a huge mistake, because Tyson can easily take you out. I think that Tyson is the real “Head Of The Dragon.”
JT: Why is everybody after the ‘black’ team?
Erinn: You’re team is a little stacked, I think.
Brendan: Were throwing underhand at ceramic tiles. None of us has ever done this before in our entire hands.
Coach: (While raising his right hand like he was about to tesitify in court) I HAVE!
Tyson (in a typical snarky confessional): Coach likes to have the attention, I mean All the great he’s done. Sounds almost too good to be true.
you’re right Coach is a douche and a tool, but IMO, he is Tyson’s tool. If the Jalapao-3 don’t find a way to get rid of Tyson soon, he will cruise to the finals. I’m not sure if the tribemates see the snarky Tyson that we see in confessionals. I think he is somewhat likeable in Camp, and Coach is uniformly hated in Camp and in Confessionals.
Tyson is way more of a physical threat than Coach – he’s won the last two Immunity challenges. He’s not good at stuff requiring raw strength, scrawny little fellow that he is, but he’s agile and he’s fast.
We were very sad to see Brendan go home. But Tyson just makes me and my husband laugh and laugh. We have a friend who’s just as cynical, sarcastic, and scathing in his comments, so we just eat it up.
Does anybody know if Probst has a blog like Phil from TAR?
