I have seen “Dazed and Confused,” and I still don’t see what you’re getting at. McConaughey in that movie was a loser drunkard in his mid-twenties with his best achievements already behind him; I don’t see how you can apply any of those qualities to Colby.
Nor does it make sense that you’d call Colby a “rip-off” of McConaughey, just because Colby’s also a cutie-pie Texan. The cuteness is in his genes, as his mama told us last night, and he certainly didn’t choose to be a Texan either.
I’m thinking this reward challenge was pretty much the outback version of the island cruise ship one, where Sean got to see his Dad.

Fiver, remember back at the beginning of the show, though? When Colby was talking about his luxury item (Texas flag) and he said, “when I wake up in the morning there are two things I’m thankful for; I’m thankful I’m alive and I’m thankful I’m a Texan.” I can see Matthew McConneaghy (whatever) saying that. I know some people have state pride, but I don’t think you can find that kind of loyalty too many places. Maybe you folks down there should just take your Texas shaped belt buckles, ten gallon hats and secede. And did you see Elisabeth on the Early Show this morning! I’m glad to see that she’s doing better. I love her!
Dignan, I lived in Houston for two years, so I’m well acquainted with the way they behave. Colby’s excessive state pride is generalizable to most Texans I’ve known, not just McConaughey.
I’m probably making more of this than it deserves. It’s just that minty green was talkin’ trash about Colby and comparing him to a particularly unpleasant and unsympathetic movie character, and that’s just not cool. Win or lose, Colby’s clearly a decent fellow and he’s playing fair. Let him alone.
Regarding Bessy: Yes, Dignan, I love her too. I taped the Early Show and can’t wait to get home and watch it! Does she smile a lot in the interview? I love it when she smiles. I pretend she’s smiling at me.

For some reason that cracked me up. Yeah, I thought she smiled quite a bit. She had her head dress back too. She’s so cute, I love her! It shows what a sweet gal she is too. They asked about how she didn’t get along with Keith, but she didn’t really say anything bad about him, she said something like, “Keith’s great.” She’s so wonderful. I can’t help but smile when I see her too. She’s so hot.
FTR, Fiver, I loved McConaughey’s character in “D&C.” A loser, yes, but a funny and likable one.
No kidding! The entire thing gave me the creepy-crawlies. “conjugal visit”? WTF?!?!?!?
