'Survivor 45' recap: Dee Valladares is a love assassin
'Survivor 45' recap: Dee Valladares puts game before love, and we rank this season against all the others.
It think that alliance is pretty much dead now.
I, too, was yelling at Austin to play his idol. I’m glad this didn’t come back on him.
And yes, that alliance is broken.
I really like that Drew finally won something. But damn, didn’t anyone ever teach that boy how to throw things? That was some of the worst tossing I’ve ever seen.
And I felt sorry for Austin. You could tell that he was just totally worn out and overwhelmed. No matter how many times Jeff said “other side!”, it just did not register. Totally blue screened, and buffering.
Liked this episode a lot.
She lies so much I am having issues believing that unbelievable story.
I hate to use the phrase “throws like a girl” because a lot of girls (including the Survivors) look better.
I can’t believe Julie never returned the idol to Austin.
And I can’t believe Austin gave her the most powerful idol (one that lasted until final five rather than final six),. of course the amulet idol may not have been transferable.
I KNOW! I would have demanded it back. Maybe its in a deleted scene or something.
I don’t understand why Drew didn’t split the vote. He knew Julie had an idol. She is not going to vote for herself.
The amulet idol is not transferable, yeah.
…well that’s a take.
I really don’t have much memory of what terrible lies she has told. Anything other than the standard lying everyone on the show does?

She has lied from Day one about her job, and made Jake a target as “he’s a lawyer” . I mean, I can kinda see ,lying about your job to start before you know people, but dissing on some guy “because he’s a lawyer” when you are also is too much.
The Reward Challenge destination looked awful to me. Admittedly I am not beach/ocean person, but there was no shade at all (except from the heliocopter). Do they provide suncreen to the contestants?
I don’t like the ‘new-era’ twist of marooning the final five at a new beach. with no shelter, and no supply of firewood, etc, Do they have there residual rice supply?
Dammit. He broke the first rule of Survivor! Never get too comfortable.
I really enjoyed these new challenges. They’re well done, and they are equal enough that size/physicality isn’t much of a modifier. Anyone could have won them.
Now that he doesn’t have an idol, if he doesn’t win the next immunity contest, I know Austin is going to go. He’s just too likeable for the others to go against.
And I’d really appreciate never seeing Jake in his underwear again, kthanksbye.
Is there an inordinate number of lawyers in this group?
I’ll be curious to find out what kind of entrepreneurism Dee does.

Yup. And so did Austin actually. No reason not to play that idol on Drew if you really want him to stay. He knew 100% (as much as anything can be 100% in Survivor) that Dee would have told him if he was at risk.
And as I do the math (especially with Jake having an idol), I think Dee just blew up any hope of getting to the final 2 with Austin (she could still make it by herself, which maybe was her plan all along…). Julie, Katurah, and Jake have no reason to keep either one of them around at the next vote, and they can’t both win immunity. Drew was their third vote, and seemed completely loyal.
I think Dee seems to believe that Julie will never turn on her, and that may be true, but I don’t see why Dee feels like Julie needs to be loyal to Austin. I guess there is a scenario where Austin wins final-5 immunity and Julie goes along with getting rid of Jake or Katurah (although that would be a poor decision, IMO). But they better guess correctly, because Jake is playing his idol.
It’s also odd that Dee didn’t look at the jury and realize that it’s going to be a ton of not-Reba up there. Putting a betrayed Drew there as well is going to make it harder for Dee or Austin to win, especially if Katurah or Jake can do something dramatic and tell a good story at the end.
In the end, I kind of have a hunch Dee just gave the win to Julie.

From what I can tell she does sales. She seems to have (temporarily?) owned a backpack company, but it’s not clear if it’s still in business.

This is the impression I arrived at after five minutes of internet sleuthing. The website address that her Instagram links to is labeled as “available”.
mmm
This season seems to have some good players, but no great players. Emily, Jake and Katurah spent their time after the merge picking off their own group, seemingly oblivious to the four players dominating the game.
And the big four (Dee, Drew, Julie and Austin) don’t seem to do any strategizing beyond “which loser should we pick off next?” When they finally go after Julie and it blows up, Julie could have taken out one of her alliance members who just wrote her name down. I would have had mad respect if she took out Austin, but if she took out Dee she would become Survivor legend. Imagine that blindside.

Dee is such a jerk. She screwed over her 'close friend". , then laughed in glee when they ate all the rice, flew over those who didnt get to go on the picnic, and some other times.
And there was no sense in her saviving Mamma J, who is a definite threat.
as said here
'Survivor 45' recap: Dee Valladares puts game before love, and we rank this season against all the others.
Last week, Austin felt bad about blindsiding his buddling love interest Dee on a Julie vote, so he told her about it in strict confidence. And what did Dee do? She immediately went and told Julie (who saved herself with an idol) and then lied to her island boyfriend repeatedly about it.
And then this week we had pretty much the exact same scenario in reverse. This time, Dee and Julie were voting for Austin’s BFF Drew. And Dee had to decide whether to return the favor and give Austin a heads up. If she did, it could preserve her relationship — professional and romantic — with Austin. But it could also undo everything if Austin played his idol for his buddy. Unless the edit is screwing with us — which is possible — it appears Dee decided against telling him. It seems Dee was content to sit back and blindside her island boyfriend, leaving him completely out in the cold just three days after he chose not to do the same to her. Brutal. Savage. Killer.

She’s playing a game, you’re supposed to screw over the other players and why not laugh, it’s a game. Games are fun.
I agree that she shouldn’t have saved Julie, but taking out Drew was one of the best moves in the season.
flew over those who didnt get to go on the picnic
You know she wasn’t piloting the helicopter, right?
You know she wasn’t piloting the helicopter, right?
No, but she laughed at those not getting a reward. And she didnt even win it.
She’s playing a game, you’re supposed to screw over the other players…
You dont have to be a jerk about it.
