Survivor 48

Survivor 48 has begun! What will this season bring. So far we’ve had a dislocated shoulder, a father-daughter moment, a Dan Brown-esqe idol hunt, and a shouting match on the very first tribal.

But more importantly, fan voting for Survivor 50 has begun! Fans get to vote on

  • Tribe Colors (whatever)
  • Rice or no rice (Rice!)
  • Final four fire-making (no!)
  • Live reunion (of course!)

I don’t want to be this dude. I really, REALLY don’t want to be this dude.

  1. I don’t care about a single member of any of these tribes. Not a whit.
  2. If you had taken a roomful of six year olds, and said “make a cast for Survivor”, this is what they would have come up with. Each is in their own slot, in their own niche, and you KNOW what their season-story will be.
  3. Seriously? A lawyer lying about being a teacher? A Music Executive pretending to be a publisher or whatever? This story NEVER works, and it ALWAYS comes back to bite them.

I’m being That Guy in this thread. And I feel very bad about it. Hatewatching to commence.

This is what I say to myself every season. Yet, usually by the merge that has changed.

What is new this season is the fact that the Vula tribe has a clothing sponsor. That was probably the best dressed tribal council I’ve ever seen.

All 3 tribes were color coordinated at the beginning.

Did we need to see reaction videos? (And did they seem just a tad over the top…,ie breaking down in tears?)

How did we wind up with 2 firefighters?

Do we think that anybody cares that one of the contestants is — gasp! — a lawyer? He might have an inflated sense of importance.

Yeah, I know the tribes are color coordinated. I’m talking about the quality and style of what they were wearing. I don’t think I’ve seen that before.

This show is getting to be so predictable that it’s painful to watch. I’m to the point where I just fast forward to the challenges and tribal council. Two hours is just entirely too long. It really needs to go back to one hour a week.

Eh, the first episode is way too soon to write off the season. There do seem to be some interesting personalities, for better or worse. And there are always those whom you don’t really notice until halfway through that turn out to be great players.

And the most annoying person got voted off first, which is a big plus in my book.

Yep, I agree. Looks interesting, but who knows?

I barely noticed her- why annoying?

Going on and on about Reiki and astrology, for starters.

Also yammering about how she’s such a hard-nosed, high-powered businesswoman in every confessional, essentially claiming that she has to tone down her awesomeness so as not to intimidate everybody.

And that stupid hat.

Thanks, I really missed that part. Had no idea who she was when she was voted off. I’ll never think of her again.

I agree! They should go back to one hour shows. I’ve been FF through all of that boring talk for years. We like watching the challenges and tribal council. I’ll stop if it looks like something interesting is happening, but I can’t take the interviews.

I wish they would bring back more survival stuff, like shelter building, fishing, fruit gathering etc. Since this is the one show my wife and I watch together (DVRed) and she likes the talky bits, I get to watch them also. :innocent:

I’ll be really happy to see Sai gone (and now that she’s wasted her HII it may be soon). Her little hissy fit when she didn’t get to go on the journey was the last straw.

And jeez, Mitch sure had a good day.

“DIG-4-8? What’s DIG stand for?”
“YOU GOTTA DIG!”

Yes, they made it clear it was for practice.

Damn she just hates Mary, and they barely know each other.

And Star decided she hates Eva?

The longer I watch, and I’ve been watching since the first episode of the first season, the more I just want kind, friendly, and even funny contestants.

I don’t want anyone angry or bitter. It’s not fun.

I don’t think they’ll ever have another Rudy.

That was a pretty wild tribal council. I don’t think that Mary and Sai are going to somehow magically get along now.

I usually get bored with alliance / vote talk, but the Mary/Sai mind game was fascinating.

Cedrek wussed out. He wrote Sai down twice but couldn’t say it to her face.

Oh Cedrek you idiot. That was the perfect way to get out Sai and keep your #1 ally. Now you are with the two people you voted for. And if Mary and Sai squash their differences and get along, guess who’s the third man out on a 3-person team? :face_with_rolling_eyes:
