Survivor 46 - open spoilers

Ugh. I’m just angry about that. And it’s his own fault but still…

There are a couple of people I like but overall this is a very ineffectual group.

Kenzie is the person he trusts most? WTH? Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

I really don’t like her.

Kenzie is growing on me – she’s funny. Speaking of funny, this exchange:

Hunter: … and nobody was mad.
Venus: I was mad.
Hunter: You’re always mad.

This has become the season of going home with an Idol in your pocket - what is wrong with these people?

Me too, at first I didn’t care for her but I’m kind of entertained by her now.

You know how we used to complain about we never really got to know the members of the non-Purple teams at the start? Well, since the merge, we have … and to me they’re mostly unpleasant. At this point I slightly like Ben and Charlie, mostly because they still haven’t been given much air time, I guess because they’re relatively quiet and reserved in comparison to the others.

I can understand the conflict between using the idol, and saving it for later if you’re reasonably confident you’re not going home today. But it’s inherent in this game, that counting votes is problematic when everybody’s lying (or, more charitably, withholding information.)

It’s hard to be that reasonably confident. Here’s a clue, if everyone at tribal is trying hard to convince you it’s someone else - it’s you.

People like Hunter should never treat idols preciously - they are tools, use them. He should have known, and did know, he was a threat and therefore a potential target. Use the damn thing and go find it again. That was Russell’s strategy and he re-found it after almost every tribal.

You cannot go home if you play an idol.

Except that one time with a nullifier

I can’t believe he didn’t play it. Its just… ::sigh::. Hunter was really entertaining, and had a great outlook. I would have liked to see him go further. He just got too comfortable.

AND HOW IN THE NINE HELLS IS Q STILL THERE! UGH.

They showed some really good strategizing on here. And the thought processes behind their decicions. “They took my move, and now nobody saw it!”. Wow. Just… wow.

And again, the competitions were great. Enjoyed this one - and that they had a chance to help each other. That was really nice.

I was hoping that Q or Hunter would lift their partner (Venus or Maria) higher so they would be closer so they could land the ball in the circle easier.

Unless Jeff specifically told them it wasn’t against rules before hand.

Hunter was great at the survival aspect of the game, but terrible at the social aspect. I hope Maria or Charlie wins. They seem to be the tightest “Ride or Dies”.

Maybe he’s this season’s Phillip?

I will never understand the logic of folks that fail to use their idol when they know they are on the outside. I can almost understand if you are truly blindsided by folks that have been working with you (like if Tiff had gone home with her idol).

But Hunter had, as far as I remember, NEVER been on the right side of a vote. In the previous TC, literally every single person voted for Tevin except for him and Tevin. He should have trusted absolutely none of them. Until they vote with you, their words mean nothing. We literally saw Venus throwing massive shade at him, basically taunting him, and he takes her word that the vote is Q?!?!? Kenzie is his #1? What-the-actual-fuck is going on here?

And he’s a serious fan of the game. He builds challenges. He knows how this works. You get an idol, you play an idol, you get another idol. Tiff is really lucky that her bluff was more believable than Hunter’s.

I kinda liked him, but he’s dead to me as a player now. Argh.

Yeah, she lies too damn often.

I liked Hunter, Charlie and Maria.

She enjoyed doing it.

That said, she is doing very well. One of the few people whose names have never come up. Often when people say they love the chaos of tribal council, they end up blindsided, but she sat pretty.

Charlie seems to be in a good position. Good relationships with everyone, strong in challenges, not compulsively seeking moves left and right.

I was a couple weeks behind and just got caught up.

Holy cow, what a shitshow.
Q offers himself up for sacrifice, totally out of the blue, and the tribe - half of whom wanted him out in the first place - don’t take him up on it.
Hunter is certain he’s going to be voted out, but doesn’t play his idol based on last-second reassurances from people he doesn’t trust. There just aren’t enough facepalm emojis.

I’m not sure who I’m rooting for. There are a few people I’m rooting against.

For me, it’s down to Jack Quaid, which is what I call the younger guy who isn’t offensive in any way.

Charlie. I just looked it up and his name is Charlie.

And we like Maria, who is like invisible on the show.

I’m curious about the stats because I think overall more people have gone home with the idol then saved themselves with the idol.

No, only ten in all survivor history. This season is weird.

We seem to be in an era of players who call themselves “superfans” and have studied every season, yet somehow convince themselves that they’ve invented a new and better way to play, thus ignoring all the lessons of past seasons.
