I’m not sure why that would make any real difference. Even if he won the immunity, Rachel would still beat Teeny at fire and the Final Three would be exactly the same.
He got to the end, he just didn’t have the votes. The only way he’d win is for Rachel to lose at fire, which seems unlikely considering how Teeny went.
Both Sue and Teeny got extensive after finale interviews on EW. Neither realized they were the goat. Sue thinks she had a shot at winning, agrees Rachel had it in the bag, but is upset she didnt get ANY votes. Teeny at least knows she would never have won vs Rachel, but thinks she would have gotten several votes.
Delusional.
I am glad Sam came in second- but he didnt deserve better than that.
I’m just glad that the final immunity challenge wasn’t one of those “stand on a tiny block until the pain is unbearable and you fall off” things. Those are stupid.
It’s kind of funny to me that someone would think that it’s a big achievement to keep the secret of being older than you claim to be. What person, ever, would challenge someone claiming to be 47 by saying “no way, you are clearly at least 55!”. That’s just not a reasonable thing for anybody to question, especially in a social setting. We are training pretty early on that it’s OK to say somebody looks younger than they are, but never older.
But then again she didn’t realize she was not likely to get any votes, so her social awareness was a little bit off.
Also, I still think she had one or two chances to actually be a player, by using her idol in an effective way earlier on to raise her profile. Maybe by saving Caroline or something. But for some reason she kept it for herself when it was clear she wouldn’t need it (or should have been clear…).
Ultimately the right winner, but a bit unsatisfying. Rachel got very lucky with Sol saving her and getting the immunity idol clue. After that she just won out on the challenges - which is certainly impressive but often something we deride male players for doing. She didn’t really play socially that well at all, and the big strategic moves didn’t really involve her from what I remember.
Maybe, maybe not. I took it at face value. On reflection she might have seen the bigger picture more clearly but in the moment I think she believed it.
Nice catch!
Look, I’ve got no love for Teeny, but her fire caught immediately and she built it well. The wind fucked her. I don’t think Rachael could have built a bigger fire any faster.
I think she built a crappy fire, Sam built a winning fire. Teeny’s was positioned directly under the rope, Sam’s a little behind it. Teeny used all her fast-burning material at the beginning, Sam held some in reserve and piled it on near the end to reach the rope.
Teeny placed whole kindling sticks on her fire, Sam snapped his in half, where the tiny shards of wood would catch fire quickly. Sam actively structured his wood more vertically as the flame increased; Teeny stared at hers, said “what do I do?”, did not feed it, and cursed the wind (after, when her win seemed assured, she just sat back and watched).
(Disclosure: I’m not a Survivor savant, most of this I gathered from Reddit)
She, along with everyone else was laughing when she made that statement. She was basically saying “hey, I can tell myself I would’ve won, whether or not it’s true.” Compare that to Liz last season who straight up said she would’ve won if she hadn’t lost fire and the entire jury rolls their eyes.
Remember last season when many of the contestants went home with an idol in their pockets? (Jem, Hunter, Tiffany, Venus and Q went home with Hidden Idols). The common rhetoric and discourse from the Monday Morning Quarterbacks was play your idol when you got it so you don’t go home with it.
all things being equal, Rachel would not be season 47 winner if she had played her idol when she got it, She was vulnerable in the Sol and Gabe votes and held on to it.
