Survivor 47 (and some bonus info!)

Rome took the blindside with much better spirits than Anika. I think that if Rome had just turned his gameplay down from 11 to perhaps 8 he might have made it much further than he did.

I liked his explanation of how the amulets are a liability. He loved the limelight.

Sue is 45. Just in Martian years.

I think she bought her Human Skinsuit a size too small…

In listening to the interviews from the other players voted off, Rome annoyed a lot of people because he just wouldn’t stop talking. I agree that he needed to turn down gameplay, but I think he needed to turn down his volume first

Yes, and it was a good move. IF Rome had a idol, and played it on himself, and voted for Sol, they needed two votes for Andy, which is exactly how it played out. Rarely does such a complicated plan work out like that.

She has had too much plastic surgery, I think.

Great episode.

Rome exited with much more class than I expected. I almost felt bad for him. Almost.

Yeah, helped me realize that he’s a decent guy outside the game, most likely.

I think Rome thought the same as me. It’s not word for word, but I was shocked when he even added the “Can I have a hug?” line.

I swear I had no inside information!

Yeah, they asked Sam and Sierra if they were comfortable having Andy as a backup at the (not)Merge feast.

“I wonder what that suspicious-looking buoy is. Meh, it’s probably nothing. Anyway, back to searching for that advantage.”

Somehow, from that conversation, I gather random buoys do show up once in a while.

Two blindsides in a row where the person voted out had nobody even tip them off it might be them. That’s a massive failure of the social game. You need somebody who might turn on you, but is also likely to at least feel bad about it and maybe give you a tell that you are at risk. I’m not sure there was anything Rome could do (shot in the dark, I guess), but the fact that every single person easily lied directly to his face looks pretty bad.

ETA: And it looked like Kyle was trying to strike up a friendship, but Rome immediately tried to turn their conversation into gameplay fodder rather than try to keep Kyle as someone who actually liked him.

Most of the other players seem to have at least somebody who will tip them off when they are on the block. Maybe not Sol; I’m not sure anybody is sticking their neck out for him. Sam needs to keep a few other targets around - we are down to 5 men and 7 women.

Sierra was asked by a twitter follower about why they didn’t rinse off the mud before they had their merge feast.

Thats just stupid- and cruel.

They discussed spitting the vote in case Rome had an advantage.

Wow, was that a roller coaster!

  1. Once again, I loved the competition. Done VERY well, and very neutral to all players abilities.
  2. Drama. So much drama!
  3. THANK YOU FOR SEARCHING A COMPETITION! Good gods, I can’t believe the players haven’t been searching the sit-out seats, the benches, everything! They should know better.
  4. I’m really sorry to see Tiana leave. I really liked her.

Great episode.

I usually don’t like the “half the tribe is safe” twists, but this one proved highly entertaining!

I was surprised they didn’t go with Gabe. Seems like every season they talk about a “women’s alliance,” and it never holds. This one didn’t even last one episode.

Tribal Council was intense. Second time in three weeks we’ve had someone sobbing their way up the walkway after getting voted out.

I’m glad Sol chose Rachel to give the advantage to. There would have been zero drama otherwise. For all the talk about Tuku putting a target on their backs, you know they were going to vote Rachel off anyway.

Who in their right mind would have chosen the Block a Vote option over Safety Without Power? (A misnomer if you ask me, that was a big power move as it turned out.)

This looks like it’s going to be a really fun second half. I have no idea what might happen, except that Sue already has “goat” written all over her. Expect her to stick around until the end.

It never works. I really don’t know why…

I was left wondering whether it was actually a good move for him. Obviously from a numbers perspective it was good to reduce Tuku, but there was some logic to trying to unite the 6 against the 5. Now you have a few free agents and a much more chaotic situation. And you may have saved a player that will actually work with her former tribe against you.

I think Tiana might have. If she had the advantage she could have blocked Gabe’s vote and been able to force a 3-2 ouster of Gabe with only Rachel and one other. Of course it seems like none of Kyle, Sue, or Caroline were interested in that, so it still probably wouldn’t have worked.

Yeah, could be. I think we have a few pretty tight groupings:

Sam & Sierra - with Andy maybe hanging on
Kyle, Gabe, Sue, Caroline - seem very solid
Genevieve, Teeny, Sol - maybe pulling in Rachel

Gonna be interesting to see which of those groups try to work together.

You gotta remember they’re compressing 2-3 days into an hour. They’re not going to show Everytime someone looks for an advantage and there’s nothing there. Same with “why don’t they try to make fire without flint.” Sometimes they do and it’s just not shown.

What I always wonder is whether they’re required to douse their fire before going to the challenge. Otherwise, they should leave a giant roaring fire and hope there’s something left of it when they get back, in case they lose their flint.

I remember at least one instance in a previous season where a team was able to restart their fire from the glowing charcoals that remained. But, maybe there is a rule against that now.

Nah, one of the teams (I think red) did it this season too.
